For what it's worth, other than TFC and any team we are about to play (their last game before facing us), the only other team I watch is the Vancouver Whitecaps. They're rivals but still a cool brand and an interesting style of play!

PDL Update

The North American Finals of the USL PDL were played over the weekend as the Michigan Bucks hosted Calgary's Foothills FC. Unfortunately, Foothills were on the wrong end of a dramatic finish that saw the Bucks awarded and convert an 87th minute but Foothills denied a late penalty for a similar infraction. While Calgary may not be anywhere close to obtaining an MLS franchise, it is very promising to see a squad of homegrown players do so well. With a few of this year's team having standout seasons, Foothills may have to turn to their academy to replace players that could use this season as a launching point to professional clubs.

Hamilton's ownership group released a survey this past week asking for input on a Canadian soccer team in Hamilton. This is likely seen as a precursor to the future Canadian Premier League and the location of one of the teams in Hamilton, likely playing out of Tim Hortons Field.

I've had it with Biello... what a BS lineup he's putting. Mallace over Ontivero, I have no comments really... It's unacceptable a top 3 team on paper is 5th in the East.

Might as well bring back Klowpas who was good for lols.

1st place in the Eastern Conference and second in the entire league, 2 points from the Supporters Shield, home playoff game virtually guaranteed. Let's go!

It's going to have a playoff atmosphere...sold out (a handful will become available from time to time but they disappear quickly) with even standing room tickets reaching their limit. The rest of the games this season will most likely be sold out too closer to those dates. I hear the new TIFO rigging will be up and everyone's been asked to arrive early to the stadium as they want to make this one special, the CNE will slow down the commuters somewhat as well so early arrival is recommended. The last few months have been electric!

Good job by the TFC's management but geez, what is it with a specific fringe of TFC fans and sexism? These people exist in all cities and fan bases of course but why is it that some TFC guys are so brazen and think they can get away with it? And how did this guy get into the stadium with the sign without it being checked?

It's not just TFC fans, it's apparently a league problem. I think too many of the fans like to pretend they are like English hooligans going to premier league games.

Banners, flags and tifos are more of a continental thing no?

Canada plays Honduras this evening in what will (almost ultimately) decide whether Canada moves on to the final 2018 World Cup qualifying group or whether they're eliminated. Canada hosts El Salvador Tuesday in Vancouver but it's paramount they get some sort of result this evening. Canada won their previous group match with Honduras 1-0 at BC Place in November in front of 20K.

And...Canada poops the bed again, surrendering an early 1-0 lead to fall 2-1 to Honduras. While the qualification dream is not over, it will take some work and some help to get there. Canada has to beat El Salvador AND have Mexico beat Honduras AND have the combined goal differential be at least +5 for the winners. I'm going to assume Canada holds the tie-breaker on Honduras based on away goals.

Mexico has already clinched a spot in the next round, so they may not care much about the game vs Honduras.

Canada has only scored 2 goals in 5 games in this qualifying round (including 0 in their previous draw vs El Salvador), so I am going to remain pessimistic and declare that this is over.

Cue the chorus of we are just building the program up and it will be different in 2022. We might believe that but our play is so inconsistent and Honduras owned the better chances for most of the game. We are no where near even a middling team yet.

Canada likely won't be qualifying for the Hex unless they beat El Salvador by 2 or 3 and Mexico beats Honduras by 3 or 4. Even then, Honduras has scored more goals in the event of a goal differential tie.

It's remarkably frustrating to watch. Canada's program has been mostly inept for the past few decades, and Floro is currently squandering all of the potential in the squad by playing this awful defensive football whilst making very questionable squad choices. The sooner Floro gets fired the soon the program can carry on.
