They've been repainting it for what seems like forever. Two sides are done already, the other two are more than halfway done. It still looks terrible but at least it's not a peeling, rusting mess anymore.

Yes. 1 Liberty Plaza has been undergoing renovation, seems like forever.

I don't work there any longer, but tenant complaints are really slowing it down.

They were blasting pretty hardcore chemicals to strip the paint during office hours and we had to evacuate our offices 3-4 times because people started getting really light-headed.

Then they started painting right up till 8 AM and by the time people got to work the fumes were still too much and we were all sent home by HR.

Even when that wasn't going on, the scraping machinery they were using was putting out enough db's that I couldn't drown it out with noise cancelling headphones, so a lot of people started working from home for entire weeks at a time.

It still is taking forever given that I began work there over 2 years ago and it still doesn't appear to be half done (and they had started a long time before I started there), but I imagine they are only able to work about 8-10 hours a day and all of it overnight at this point.

~2017 at the latest I'm guessing. It certainly won't be done anytime soon, so it's best to be patient.

There's so much development going on in New York these days, people could be forgiven if they've forgotten there's a World Trade Center still under construction in New York.

But there's a lot more to go before we can close this chapter.

Little by little, T3 becomes more imposing... looks like 4 levels of concrete now in the elevator core, vs. only one during the big pause.

Also I note the construction elevator on the east side, that's new.

Next big development, new steel... any bets as to when?

I'm dying to see how the east/west facades compare to the renders.

After watching virtually featureless glass towers rise at the WTC site, I'm excited to see something different. From the little we've seen so far, I think we will love it, even with the changes.

Still a long way to go before it's imposing over the memorial.

You guys can send all that snow up here to Ottawa, we haven't gotten a single good dump this year and my snowboard is lonely.

It's very exciting to see the core go finally go up! I wonder how long before it surpasses Tower 4...

Crowdfunder Fundrise marketing 3 WTC bonds
Platform offers users a chance to invest in the building's senior debt

January 27, 2015

Quote:
Crowdfunding platform Fundrise is marketing some of the tax-free bonds used to finance Silverstein Properties’ 3 World Trade Center.

The website, which counts top Silverstein executives among its key investors, is offering up the chance to invest in a $2 million share of the 80-story skyscraper’s most senior debt, according to Capital New York.

Fundrise is not directly re-selling the debt, according to the website, but is offering a chance to invest in a trust that holds the debt.

Silverstein sold the tax-free Liberty Bonds in October for roughly $1 billion of the building’s financing at an initial annual return of 5 percent.

Fundrise raised $31 million in May, as TRD reported. Silverstein’s chief executive Martin Burger and president Tal Kerret were among the investors.
