Shooting percentages (that is, shots that are goals) of 50% do not last entire seasons and are not sustainable longterm. Most players typically have a shooting percentages around 8%-10% and many good goalscorers may occasionally get up to 15%. So, yeah, Matthews will have a regression at some point.

Here’s a list of top shooting % for a career.https://www.hockey-reference.com/lea...ct_career.html

Everyone on that list played in the 70s and 80s. Matthews will do well to keep his shooting percentage over 20%.

Not a bad start to the season for the Habs.

Nonetheless, yesterday marked the first time since January 2004 that the Bell Centre wasn't sold out.

I wasn't being serious about him going above 50% or staying put there. He's at 45.5% today which is still an awesome number to have and almost impossible to maintain.

Matthews joins elite company in Maple Leafs win against Kings
Forward matches Gretzky, Bossy, Lemieux and Stevens by starting season with seven straight multipoint games.

TORONTO -- Auston Matthews' sizzling start to the 2018-19 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs has put him in the elite company of Hockey Hall of Fame forwards Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy.

Matthews had two assists in a 4-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Scotiabank Arena on Monday, extending his multipoint streak to seven games. The Maple Leafs center joins Lemieux and forward Kevin Stevens (Pittsburgh Penguins, 1992-93), Bossy (New York Islanders, 1984-85) and Gretzky (Edmonton Oilers, 1983-84) as players who started a season with seven consecutive multipoint games.

"I don't know what it is. I'm just trying to play hockey, have fun, get those opportunities and try to cash in on them," said Matthews, whose six-game goal streak ended. "I've been fortunate they've been going in; we've been able to gel as a line and continue to get better and obviously the most important thing is we're winning games, so we just want that to continue."

The crazy thing is, every game that he gets two points, he falls behind Gretzky's season point record.

My sister might be there to stop you from stopping that LOL. She's a bigger Leaf fan then me. But probably one of only a handful of Leaf Fans in Gibsons, at least out of the closet Leaf fans.

The only ones who have a right to be upset are Oilers fans since the route misses them.

Well in the year 2096 when this happens I'm sure they can just take their hovercars down and watch it go by.

I feel like Leafs fans in Toronto would also be upset as the route entirely misses them as well.

We're that selfless that we will give up our front row seat for the rest of the country to share in this historic moment.

Can we stop talking about the cup. It's bad luck. We have 61 years off proof that it does.
