Ill be in Houston in about a month to see this beauty and her effect on the skyline. Last time I was down there it was only about half as tall. I really hope that roof looks good and not like the roof on the lower section of the Eleysian in Chicago, bleh.

The framework for the roof went up very quickly, beginning just last week. Only a section facing the park remains to be filled in.

Compare: 9/2/08

I know it's been noted here before, but it looks so similar to the Ashton in Austin. Different roof line, but the tower portion is almost the same -- same colors, same windows, etc.

Here's a photo:

Wow is that the same tower, lol. Great photos and I sure hope this roof looks good. Its something totally new for Houston and its good to see a variety of different styles. Lets just hope those parking places keep on filling in with towers and we can then have ourselves our own little slice of something that feels like NYC or Chicago. Not that I want Houston to be like those cities or look like them but downtown Houston still does not have the feel of a major city like that.

Someone said the crane fell off the building. Now that is hard to imagine, and don't believe it at all.

Man, the hurricane probably did some real good damage to the inside of this building. My family still lives down in Houston and they said that they could possibly be without power for 2 or 3 weeks so you can pretty much guess that construction downtown wont recommence for a while.

The crane did not fall off. A picture of the building as posted on another forum and the crane is standing tall. The building looks to be just fine...

There was essentially no damage to the building, much less the crane. Don't even think any windows were taken out either.

Whoever said there was something up there... Oy.

This photo is from last Friday (9/19). They are nearing completion of the roof frame and AC units were installed earlier that week...

Those glass balcony railings really help define the vertical glass 'columns', creating a nice contrast with the brick. This should be one nice looking tower when it's finished.

Agreed. I have always said that this one looks better in person then in the rendering that is out. Its very pleasing...

When is this tower supposed to be finish, like all the cladding and everything with the crane down?

Another precious classical highrise You've gotta love the US for such towers.
This one's going to turn out really classy. And it's good to see a red facade on such a building. Could be also great for Frankfurt/Germany e.g., because they have loads of red Main sand stone over there.

What's the progress of the roof? Anybody who's got some fresh views?

From about 6 days ago on my return to H Town

JP Morgan Chase Tower was still boarded up from the hurricane, plus you can see all the cranes for all projects going on downtown in this photo, yay!

Cowboy in the city, only in Tejas.

Discovery Green was awesome, a lot lot nicer than I thought it would be. Its like a mini Millennium Park from Chicago or something. It will do wonders for the area for sure.

Ill be back in about 3 weeks and Ill be sure to go downtown again, well I have to. I am hopefully getting a job at the Houston Museum of Natural History and Science for the Christmas Break. Fingers crossed!

Great to see this getting finished. Thanks for the update!

I'd expect they're goin to use a proper material for the roof - such as copper, slate, bronze, bricks or even tiles. But the plans rather look like they'd use some sort of metal. I hope it doesn't turn out to be cheap (colored) blank sheet or something like that.

The renders I'm talking about:

They've got a new homepage for One Park Place, btw:
