They are partially building Tower 2 right now. It's only 2 stories though. It's something.

I say build tower 2 and 3 at the first sign of a tennant, doesnt have to be anchor, just enough for funding. Empire state building was empty for months before tennants moved in

Correction the Empire State Building was empty until 1950, and second of all that won't happen. They need to make money, and building an empty building or almost empty building won't make money so no that won't happen. Plus building an empty or almost empty building is a bad idea. The original World Trade Center Twin Towers went up practically empty and caused a loss of 10-15 million dollars a year during their early years and that is just not feasible and that will not happen again.

I'm confident this tower will keep on rising, and if it stops it will be for a short time only.

@ NYCLuver and RoldanTTLB: Thanks for those shots!

They are building just the minimum amount required on T2 for the entry to the transit hall and they are capping all the rest. No additional construction for T2 after that for the foreseeable future. But this is off topic, T3 is at least going for sure to its 100+ foot tall podium, and hopefully full construction with much smaller delay.

Knew this was coming but great to see it nonetheless. With base steel, the general public will start to realize T3 is a major building rather than just this weird cement silo or bunker or whatever it looks like now.

It will be interesting to see the lobby spaces of T3 take shape and see how they compare to the lobbies of T1 and T4 which are both looking great.

A crane is being reinstalled in the lobby where the previous crane had been.

We're about to finally see the base take shape, giving us a real feel from the street of towers 3 and 4.

The street presence of this is already quite large, even though it's still only a few floors high. Definitely moving up quickly since I last saw it, although my camera was dead.

Now that I'm back, I can finally get down to see this progress in person. Been a while since I've seen it up close.

Well, since *ahem* a rather long time, computer keyboards generally have a print screen button, or some alternative.

Rigging UTC Fuel Cells

Quote:
At the World Trade Center, 80-ft below street level beneath future Tower’s 3 and 4 sit a series of United Technologies 400KW fuel cells, the latest in energy cogeneration modular powerplants. These 30-ton units needed to be relocated from inside Tower 4 to their final resting places in one of Tower 3’s numerous mechanical rooms. The process involved overcoming a 4-ft drop in elevation where the two building footprints’ met. Overhead clearance was less than 24-in. A deck and jacking system was developed and implemented that allowed the rigging process to repeated quickly and safely. The units were moved, one by one, to the new floor and set level by our master riggers.
