Antwerpen

Another day, another thread. I've got plenty of them to post yet, so I might as well get on with it. Antwerp was the eighth destination of 25, and while I enjoyed it, it was a little underwhelming since friends told us that they preferred it to Brussels. So after Brussels I had very high expectations for Antwerp, probably too high since I enjoyed Brussels so much. So again, Antwerp is a very nice city, but it's no Brussels.

EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

I don't think I've ever seen your photography (Could be wrong). But, wow, you are really talented! So much beauty, Antwerp looks really nice. I really like the wide angle shots and other interesting perspectives you made! Great work. This is really amazing.

Lovely! I really like the architecture and the city layout. Belgian architectural designs are of Franco-Dutch admix or influences ?

thanks for the shots, this is one of those cities that I am completely fascinated with and plan to make it a priority when I one day visit Europe.

Also great work with the camera, love to see more of your work in here.

I really like your photos and the way you present them!

Antwerp is a really nice port city. There are better zoo's you could have visited though (up north ). Good call on entering the Central Station, truly one of the city's gems. I once wrote a short story situated there...

We had a couple hours to spare, and since we were already at the station, we figured we might as well go to the zoo. I kind of wanted to go to Rotterdam's as well, but we never got to.

Beautiful pics and great old buildings (I agree the train station is impressive). The tall in this one caught my eye (I just wish the top was nicer):

Thanks for the tour Ayreonaut.

That's the Boerentoren. I agree about the top which could use some kind of a spire or so.

The Boerentoren (English: farmers' tower) or KBC Tower is the second tallest building of Antwerp (after the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal). It measures 97 meters and was the first skyscraper of the European continent, remaining the highest until the 1950s. The construction of the building was completed in 1931 and was 87.5 meters high back then. Due to restorations it now measures 97 meters. The building is in Art-deco style and was designed by Jan Van Hoenacker.
