I may be coming to the conclusion that they would have been better off with the original antenna. It was just as ugly in it's own way, but fit the tower more.
We'll see what it looks like on completion. I think this one looks too "raw".

i think it would look cool if they put led lights where the vents are lol so at night you would have a nice color show

^ I think the vents are designed to mimic the original trident facade. Actually I know this to be fact. But that's an ok idea, if logistics comprehend.

Honestly, I don't think the spire/antenna is terrible. In fact, I kind of like it now... Well it is what it is.

IMO Spotwas2012's two pics show the antenna bracing in quite a better light than I thought. It doean't seem to look as spindly as some folks seem to make it want to look like.
It somehow makes me glad that the somewhat bloated radome coating got scrapped. The comparative delicate form here seems to do better justice to the structure's overall appearance.

Nope. All skyscrapers have vents to ventilate the mechanical floors. So it's incorrect.

There is no need for this tower to be any taller. We don't need the tallest building in the world. A majority of the towers that are being built in the world are empty unlike One World Trade Center which will be occupied. So there is no need for this.

Not to worry, the louvre walls behind the glass cladding on the mechanical levels is to be backlit according to renders, and the color of the base and spire is to remain white except for special occasions. It would look cheesy to put multicolored LED lighting in the middle of a building.

No for this building they are specifically designed to mimic the twins as each tower in the new complex does.
