Great pics. Really love the night shots. Building is looking nice and I'm glad they are at the top floor, but I would love to see another few floors to make it taller.

It could have been 20 stories in that location and still not looked out of place.

And the photos are beautiful, I think I said that in another thread.

Looking great! Thanks for the in-depth update! I can't wait to see how the glass, charcoal brick, and wooden panels will contrast! I be excited

I was also going to suggest you post this update to the world projects thread, but I saw that you already did. I guess great minds think alike!

So do dumb ones.

We shouldn't get our hopes up.

I was downtown yesterday and walking west on Water St. (actually, I was next 351 Water). From that angle, and factoring in the natural slope of the land, Fortis building appears to be taller than its actual size and looks fairly prominent in the skyline.....

Still.. the design and location of Fortis Place would have looked phenomenal, had it been 20 stories. We really need to get over this mystical 12 story mark.

But I still can't wait to see fortis cladded and finished

I agree - I guess I was trying to pick a positive out of the fact it's only 12 stories....

Although the pictures were taken back in APril it's great that someone has decided to renovate the buildings in front of Fortis too. Wonder what will end up going in them?

I love the design of Fortis Place, and I'm sure it's going to turn out to be our best looking modern office building, but I was walking around downtown today and I'm just so disappointed the height was restricted to 12 floors. This tower could have been double the height, looked just as beautiful and still make a minimal impact on peoples views and stuff like that.

It's gonna be a stunning building, but the height is too restrictive. It looks stumpy.

It's going to be a beautiful building but it was disappointing that it wasn't 15 stories like their original proposal; there was no rational reasoning for that reduction except for conforming to public criticism.

Uneducated public criticism. They shortened the height to "appease" people who hate the one they build just as much as they hate the taller one that was proposed.
