Cirque du Soleil's MJ show is scheduled for 3 shows now (Oct 7,8,9).

Also, I know it is not Ottawa, but Montebello is close enough, Pennywise and NOFX will be headlining the DTOX ROCKFEST on June 17-18.

Bluesfest

Anyone go last night for the Soundgarden show? What are your thoughts on the new setup? I like it more than in previous years, but I don't like how there is only one entrance now, they don't have enough gates, and that creats a suuuuuuuuper long snaking lineup, not fun, and this results in many people slipping into the line in front. (I admit, I was one of the guilty ones, hahaha)

The only Bluesfest shows I'm seeing are on Saturday. Some funky and bluesy acts that day, and I get to cap it off with The Tragically Hip.

Well, they fixed the overcrowding in the lineups issue by opening a new entrance to the site, it took 2 minutes to get in last night.

Tragically Hip? same old same old, try something new and see SHPONGLE instead

This year has to be a record for big names coming to Ottawa - it seems more have come to Ottawa than even Toronto or Montreal?

Anyways I know it's been two weeks, but a couple of people at work were at the Pearl Jam concert and said the show was amazing. From what I've heard the big hits like Alive (my favorite one IMO), Jeremy, Last Kiss, etc were played. One of them was disappointed that a song called Hummus wasn't played. If listen that on Youtube and the reaction was a big WTF?

Crap, hearing the comments I should have gone to the show.

Pearl Jam

The show was good, but not any better than when they came to Ottawa about 7 years ago. What I love about PJ is that their shows are all about the music, and none of the extra stuff like special lighting and pyro effects which at some shows cause the quality of music to become secondary.

My main issue that night, was less with PJ, and more with Scotiabank Place. Everytime I go see a non-hockey event there, I get more fed up with the place. Arriving early, wanting to eat at Bert's, I couldn't as it was closed due to a private function (WTF!?!? Why do they allow a private function when there is a concert that evening!?), of course, as a result Finnigans was overflowing with people, so we had to wait and eat at the concessions. Half the concessions were boarded up, so choice of food was a disappointment. Not to mention lineups for beers and drinks, which was brutal due to many of the booths being closed. Then the smoking sections, CLOSED, so everyone had to go downstairs via stairs or elevators, scan and rescan tickets for smoking. A big WTF for the way Scotiabank Place operates on non-hockey nights.

Cirque du Soleil's MJ show was a tad better, but still, half the concession booths closed, with the ones open, NONE had water, as they sold out, and Tim's would refuse to fill up their cups with tap water. Main improvement was that the smoking sections were open.

Hockey is fine there, but I will think twice in the future before booking tickets for a concert at Scotiabank Place. I can't wait until they start throwing concerts at the new Convention Centre, I used to love seeing shows at the Congress Centre.
