It combines tram, department shopping centre, hotel and official building. It may start this year or next year.

One thing I need to say.
Keelung Maritime Plaza is designed by Spanish.(Vincente Guallart Architecture) The original design is much better than this one, but because the badget and political issue ....The final design become the one I posted.

Vincente Guallart Architecture design four different Plazas. The best one I think is this one:

you know i wasn't sure but i kinda suspected it was designed by a foreign architect. a taiwanese architect would not have made it nice and clean and cladded all in glass like this design but instead would've covered it with senseless tacky ornamentation, grey concrete or brown/pink tiles, and put a meaningless dome on top or blocky water towers. i would've been shocked if it was designed by a taiwanese architect, sorry to say. i just hope it will actually get built as is with no changes

More and more residential buildings use white or silver colour, but grey and brown are still Taiwanese favour.
Taiwanese Architect actually improve a lot, but not enough. I think it really doesn't matter which colour they choose, it reaaly depends on how they design it !
If I choose this colour how can design it ?

Hsinchu's HSR Station's design is not bad.

Taiwan is too hot in the summer
During day time, I don't think ppl will be near Keelung Maritime Plaza... I wish the design could include large trees.

i know. so granted that they can't design, at least they can pick more attractive colors other than just grey and brown because all of taiwan's cities are already grey and brown!!!

Isn't that the case for most east asian cities? Not just Taiwan, no? I for one would value uniformity above anything else. Last thing I want is a Mexican town in Taiwan. I do like glass facade tho!

Basically, from this news, the Keelung Government plan to build a resort which locate on opposite side of the train station that I posted in this thread. This resort will include skyscrapers.

hey i think they are done with the plaza renovation of the harbor. designed by vincente guillart who's in that photo below. it's nice but personally i think it looks kind of empty - needs more trees or grass. actually some palm trees would be great. nice for tourists to see when their cruise ships dock there.

plaza designed by vicente guillart:
