It was just a matter of time. I've been eyeing that stack of barriers for a few weeks now. Doesn't bother me in the slightest this time though.

They're still pulling brick out of here (the excavator in the upper right):

Notice the hole that the excavator in the lower left is digging and the guy with the tape measure. A few moments after I shot this they got to the desired depth, then immediately filled it back in. What do you think they were looking for or checking?

I have no experience at all with these issues, but as a strict observer, I would say they found that depth as a guide to know how deep they have to excavate? And that they filled it in so that they dont have a hole in the middle of the site for the equipment? It may sound silly, but I really dont have any expertise in the area

That's as a good an explanation as any I could come up with. I was thinking maybe they were checking the water table? It seems to me they would have figured that out long ago though.

Lots of dirt leaving the area:

And more material getting ready for the trucks:

A recent shot from above. Seems like this one should be headed to the construction thread at some point.

There is still a good deal of old foundation left:

They are using a large jackhammer attached to one of the excavators to break it up.

The seem to be using that machine to insert steel cylinders at an angle into the sides of the lot:

Those are the now-infamous "tiebacks". Peanut gallery will tell you all about them.

This isn't a construction shot, but 535 will fill the space just left of center in this shot from my office:

I took almost exactly those same shots today. Doesn't look like much changed since the weekend.

I know the Swinerton guy told BT it would be November before they finish the excavation, but it sure looks to me like they're pretty close to 18' deep except for that last corner.

Theres been some nice progress on this one, and they got pretty deep pretty quick.

November -- maybe they're planning on covering all this up with dirt again?

He was just guessing and I'm pretty amazed at how much progress they've made.

Maybe Malcolm and Ryan are trying to earn an early completion bonus or something. They do seem to be moving right along.

This is interesting. They dug away all the dirt and jackhammered away the concrete wall around these braces in the southwest corner:

They were also blow-torching off portions of the metal braces.
