I'd imagine they will get buried, but who knows when that will happen. Someone else was mentioning that most of the coal harbour road work will wait till the Convention Centre is done - maybe then?

Don't those just connect to the construction anyway, I can't imagine what else is using those down there. They're prolly gone once construction is finished in that block.

i'm struggling to understand why the architect chose to have a rounded roof element like that. it throws off the whole geometry of the building.

had the roof been angled similar to the patio decks, it would have looked much sharper.

I agree. At first I didn't mind it, but now it just looks awkward.

I think it must be a reference to the traditional flatiron cornice shape like in NYC or Hotel Europe in Gastown.

The roof still looks like a giant diving board - it looks out-of-place.

I'm not too keen on that feature either

I like it better than the standard mechanical box on top.

it is a classic element of this style/design. Out of place but an homage if you will.

we'll have to wait and see how the top finishes up. perhaps the design will make more sense then.

Pics from today:

Townhouses on Melville (huge contrast to the Ritz townhouses next door)

The retail space on Pender is being sold as strata units - it's been on the market a few months now and still no takers...

It turned out nice, with exception to the out of place crown.

What, is the Melville still not finished or occupied?!?! They had launch parties for it on the penthouse at the end of spring!
