I say Minnesota, the two Dakota's since they shouldn't be separate states anyway, Montana (along with the handle on Idaho), Washington, and Maine. Even though we're aiming for 5 states, we should include one territory. I'd pick Guam. Its beautiful, warm, and only a 24 hour flight away.
My map isn't based on my political viewpoint Minneapolis and Seattle would lean left, the rest would be relatively right leaning and that encompasses quite a bit. Its just a view of what would be great to acclimate into a more advanced democracy.
The first order of business would be very un-Canadian-like. I'd take a Canadian bomber jet and implode Mount Rushmore. OR if we are to be less dramatic, just use some good old dynamite on the ground. It'd leave a canvass open for retouching into MacDonald, Pearson, Trudeau, and for good measure why don't we include the father of hospital insurance - St. Laurent. Or if we are to be politically correct, include Diefenbaker just to have another conservative on there. Or maybe William Lyon Mackenzie King for leading during WWII and the depression in lieu of St. Laurent.

What a perfect list, well thought out!
