That map already needs updated. Freeport, Bahamas was announced by Vacation Express last week for next Summer. Non-stop service using a Sunwing Airlines 737.

Thanks for posting the terminal design documents tennis1400. Looks like a very efficient layout, and it's great having most retail and food behind security screening. I also like that a lounge is offered for international departures. A nice touch for those about to take a very long flight.

Also good to see that Sterling Properties has already started to lease out space at 615 Baronne they vacated recently to move into the Pan American Life building.

That map actually isn't 100% accurate. Vacation Express will be launching flights in May to Freeport, Bahamas. So that map will change.

That should be fixed before long. Hopefully!

Def need flights to Portland, Or; Cleveland, Oh; San Jose, Ca; Louisville, KY and Omaha, Ne. Also given the active participation by Alaskan Airlines in new terminal they must be planning more service here.So I wouldnt be surprised to see them eventually offer flights from here to Portland.

N Rampart Streetcar

I noticed on North Rampart, as it's starting to near completion they're redoing all the sidewalk corners on every street. Are they going to totally replace all the sidewalks along N Rampart/St Claude, or just the corners?

Not sure, but you will be seeing a lot of future construction around the city to either make corners ADA compliant, install universal crosswalks, or both. The former involves replacing the sidewalk corners and adding wheelchair ramps.

Yes its also part of the citys complete streets policy. Basically whenever a street is redone they try to add bicycle lanes and ada compliant sidewalks

City Receives $800K Grant to Provide Housing, Mental Health Services to New Orleans Homeless Population

JULY 29, 2016
NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the New Orleans Health Department and the Office of Community Development in partnership with UNITY of Greater New Orleans, the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) and Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) announced that the City of New Orleans has received an $800,000 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to provide housing and mental health services to the city’s homeless population. The grant will support the Health Department’s newly-developed New Orleans Equity and Inclusion Initiative, which will provide permanent supportive housing services, mental health and substance abuse treatment and recovery services, assistance in obtaining Medicaid and other benefits for 120 individuals who are chronically homeless and another 20 vulnerable homeless families with children.

“The City of New Orleans is committed to helping our homeless residents,” Mayor Landrieu said. “The City and over 60 homelessness service providers that make up the Continuum of Care are constantly conducting outreach and this grant will allow us to continue to make a real difference in lives of our most vulnerable. This is yet another example of us working to connect homeless individuals and families with the essential services they need to put them back on the path towards stable, permanent housing and prosperity.”

Description
Installation of Awning to shelter pedestrians and customers, replacing a prior, Approved Awning (Certificate of Appropriateness #14-38711-HDLC) on the Bourbon Street facade of the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 735-737 Canal Street/100 Bourbon Street. The awning will be designed to be historically appropriate, in shape, material, and location, contributing to the overall character of the historic building façade on which it is to be installed as close to historical examples as possible. The proposed awning will comply fully with all HDLC Guidelines, including its traditional shape, canvas material, laced construction, and placement and dimensions. We selected C. Bel for Awnings for their historical performance and extensive experience completing similar installations for other historical sites within the French Quarter and New Orleans at large and to ensure that the awning is securely built, will not pose a threat to pedestrians and other passersby, and are not at risk from any other element that could damage the fabric of such a culturally significant property in keeping with the historic appearing of the building façade. Signage on the awning, if deemed acceptable by the HDLC, will be minimal and will occupy far less than 30 percent of the area of the visible awning plane. I have included the Contractor’s quote, renderings of the proposed awning installation, and historic pictures of awnings located on the property at issue for the convenience of the HDLC. I look

It's great to see that the Oil and Gas building renovation is moving forward. It will be a total transformation once that, the former Rault, Pythian, and California Buildings are finished along with the recently completed 144 Elk Place.

It will be interesting to see what goes in the ground floor of the California Building as that is a fairly large space. I like the idea of the multi-floor market in the Pythian, but I wonder if there are too many small stalls. 27 seems like a lot if they're going for something like the St. Roch market. Maybe they're envisioning something more like a farmer's market? That area has been a bit of a food desert, so two new restaurants plus the market should be a big improvement.

Congrats on the new house

Every city in America is doing this, as money allows. Chicago and DC have ripped out and replaced hundreds of curb ramps. It's a Federal mandate.

It's a shame, I like the steel-edged curbs that seem to be everywhere in NOLA. Way more durable than anything built today, even if they're not exactly wheelchair-friendly.

I could see PDX. Also remember they own Virgin America now too. I could see them entering the bc they already have the ground staff there. But all the obvious routes and destinations are pretty saturated (lax, dc, Dallas, Vegas) except maybe SFO

Great to see the continuing expansion of the WWII Museum, with both the Hall of Democracy and the Liberation Pavilion.

Have there been any updates on the status of the Via Latrobe project on Press St. in the Bywater? I don't believe I've heard anything since it received final approval back in November.

A couple of pictures of The Julian, under construction on Magazine in the LGD:

So I don't understand this after the Taco Bell defeat on North Broad but I love sweet things and grill which has expanded to the quarter and Arabi, I got some donuts the other night and on the box it says 301 n broad. The building has recently been turned pink but no renovations. How did the neighborhood health freaks let this slip by?
