I haven't played Cities Skylines in awhile but this is the last city I was working on. It is kinda of a mish mash Paris meets London.

A few more I found of the same city

Note the building on fire

Some of the neat details like being able to see into train stations really make the game come alive

The city I've been working on lately focuses on the city of Newberry and southeast Sault Ste. Marie.

St. Mary's Narrows Golf and Country Club

The Narrows Marina

Whitefish Island Beach and Marina

Newberry Beach and Marina

Newberry Navy Port

Downtown Newberry

Newberry is home to 143,739 people and is the biggest city on Sugar Island. This is the narrows on the St. Mary's River between Whitefish Island and 1/2 Mile Island. The Sugar Island Ferry was the only way to access the Island at this point until the Narrows Bridge was completed in 1993. Newberry is mostly marshland in the southern portion of the city and is built around many small lakes. Below are overviews of Newberry, Sault Ste. Marie, and the narrows between Newberry and Sault Ste. Marie.

This is the region of Sault Ste. Marie that I've been working on for 3 years. Only have the city of Sault Ste.Marie left to do. I've outlined the city boundaries because most of them don't conform to the region grid. The first picture is reference to locate each city in the region.

This is the southwest part of the city of Sault Ste. Marie.
Sault College South Campus. Holds the nursing and engineering programs. This area used to be all midrise townhomes but was demolished to make way for the stadium, community centre, and parking for the venues.

Sherman Park

Highrise buildings along 3 Mile Road.

As we get closer to the downtown area, the built form becomes more dense.

Some overviews of southwest Sault Ste. Marie.

I just got a new PC and have been playing the crap out of Cities Skylines instead of the half a dozen graphical powerhouses I got to test it out. Will post some photos in the near future, posting this to help my memory.

Screenshot as promised. Just going for max density here, it's fun dealing with the movement problems. Very Vancouveresque.

Some pictures from south Sault Ste. Marie. This city tile is one tile south of the downtown area.
Kewadin Casino, Hotel, Conference Centre, and Entertainment Complex.

3 Mile Shopping Mall

Cascade Crossing Shopping Centres.

Kewadin Golf Course. The front 9 are shorter drives with less trees and the back nine are longer drives with more trees surrounding the fairway.

Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course

Lake Superior Royal University

Crossroads Skyscraper District near Hwy 75 and Hwy 24.

As you approach downtown, the built form changes. This area is two kilometers south of the downtown boundary.

An overview of south Sault Ste. Marie. 272,000 people live on this city tile. Right now it has the most people on one tile in the region.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I know of a couple resources (both online and books) that may be of interest to those of you who like urban planning/sim city games.

Books:

"Hypothetical City Workbook III", by Ann-Margaret Esnard.
-Includes many detailed maps of a completely hypothetical city of 10,000, as well as a little bit of demographic information. Also comes with a disc that includes downloads for the computer. Interesting resource for those who are interested in urban planning.

"Local Government in Action: A Simulation", by Bill Kennedy and Garn Wilson.
-Focuses on the fictional city of "Summerville" in the fictional province of "Cascadia". The book is more Canadian-focused and includes a map, "roles" for in classes and a brief history of the city.

"American Urban Form: A Representative History", by Sam Bass Warner
-The book is more American-centred, and is an amalgam of the development of New York City, Philadelphia and Boston into one fictional metropolis of a few million. It is less usable in the classroom and is more of a study of the development of American cities.

Online simulations:

"Fake Omaha", by Neil Greenberg
-Not so much a simulation, but still an interesting project. Has a very detailed map of a fictional city, but unfortunately the "explore" links are broken.
http://www.fakeomaha.org/

"Lincoln County Data Set", from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy
-Includes brief write up of the county and communities in it as well as a map.
PDF: https://datatoolkits.lincolninst.edu...lincoln-co.pdf
Excel: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j...6krOysZbUp0SLQ
Excel: https://datatoolkits.lincolninst.edu...n-co-rolls.xls

"Rivertown Simulation", by Norm Tyler
-Fairly detailed profile of a fictional community in Appalachia. Includes many files and downloads that focus on the community and its development plans.
http://rivertownsim.com/

"Brynania" simulation, from McGill University
-A peacebuilding simulation that is very class-oriented. Includes a write up of the fictional country of Brynania and its equally fictional neighbours. Also included are many convincing articles from well-known media organizations like CNN, Globe and Mail, New York Times, etc. that detail the suffering in Brynania's ongoing civil war.
https://brynania.wordpress.com/simulation-resources/

"Carana" simulation, used by the World Bank and some UN agencies
-Perhaps the most detailed of all simulations. If you need a fictional country to use for whatever reason this is it! For those who don't know geography well, they might think they are reading about a real country.

French version (maps are more detailed in this version)

Dwils01, your attention to detail is unreal! I used to play sc4 for years and enjoyed making my cities look real but they didn't look half as good as yours. Keep up the good work and keep posting.
