It says something about us that we're on the 4th page of the Beer thread and only on the 2nd page of the Wine thread-which was actually started first.

This 50 is for Harls, and I will keep it a secret, I'll even re-size the image to a small non noticeable size.

Best brewers in Toronto (IMO) are Bellwoods Brewery and Indie Alehouse. They only sell out of their respective locations and are on tap in local bars with good craft selections.

For something available in the LCBO I'll go with Great Lakes Brewery. Their seasonals are mostly excellent and lately they have been branching out with the project X series. Not sure how easy they are to get outside the GTA.

Other Ontario brewers I enjoy are Mill Street, Spearhead, Beau's, Muskoka, Junction brewery, Left Field, Kensington, and Granite (off the top of my head).

Big fan of Unibrue in Quebec as others have mentioned, but I actually prefer Dieu du Ciel! and Trou du Diable more. Don't get a chance to sample much craft beer from other Provinces often except on a one-off when they are available at a bar or LCBO. So can't comment too much on that. I enjoy Red Racer from BC a great deal too.

I'm kind of into craft beer. San Francisco was amazing for this reason when I was there last month - I wish we got half the selection Americans can enjoy in this respect. Though Ontario at least is improving rapidly.

Oh yeah, I still enjoy drinking an ice cold Old Milwaukee when it comes to cheap beer. Especially if it's a hot, humid day in the park.

Also, I think the ratio of hetereosexual men in this beer thread is higher than elsewhere on the forum.

...But I'm having a glass of wine as I post Do you really think personal private and individual choices have such an influence on the amount of posts in a thread?

I'll drink just about anything.

Cheap solo drunk at home: Blue, Kokanee or sometimes i'll splurge and get some EOS...which isn't exactly cheap.

If I'm drinking at home with the wife: Typically a mixed pack of whatever micro is availible. I've become a big fan of Yukon Brewing recently.

If I'm out with buddies: Usually a Yellowhead on tap. Maybe a Guinness.

I cant stand that Unibrew shit out of Quebec. gross

I'm impressed with the amount of EOS and Blue fans around here...I only have a few friends who can appreciate them.

beer!!

Hi I ran a beer department here in Minnesota for 15 years, ( been out of it for 4 years now)... And as far as Canadian beers go down here, Unibroue is very popular and award winning for sure.

Other micros came and went, but I always thought the McAuslans, Oatmeal Stout, was one of the finer beers I ever consumed!! \ There pale and Brown ales were nice too!!

One thing America has done well is craft brewing!! ( Sierra Nevada, Bells, Anchor, Left HAnd, Lagunitas etc)

I never thought much of most of the Canadian micros I tried, outside of the 2 i mentioned!!

Cheers....... Is McAuslans/St Ambroise still around??

To my knowledge, both beers have their own formulas. Most Newfoundland beers started life with other breweries that were eventually bought out.

Here's an interesting website about Newfoundland beers, breweries, and even why the beer bottles here are different from the mainland.

Blue is my golfing beer. Usually that's the best of what the beer cart girl has in her cooler. I don't mind it.

Extra Old Stock though.. that stuff reminds me of Rexall Place heroin beer. It's all good till you have to stand up.

Confirmed. I saw it at my local MLCC store on Saturday in some kind of vaguely retro-looking can.

Given what a huge seller Coors Light is in this country, I couldn't understand why the original version wasn't available.

Health Benifts of Drinking Beer

************************************** (note: In Moderation)*******************************

Builds bone strength
Antioxidant boost Beer contains flavonoids, which are natural antioxidants that help to protect the body from disease
Lowers heart disease risk
Reduces risk for kidney stones
Increases mental acuity
Guards against stroke

My favourite.
Beer can also promote relaxation, reduce stress levels and help bring on a more restful sleep.

is Labatt 50 really a top 10 in amount sold? I started drinking it in my early 20s and would get comments by women 15-20yrs my senior saying things like "Labatt 50? I haven't seen anyone drink that in years. It reminds me of my Uncle..." lol

For the mega brewers, I still appreciate a '50' once in a blue moon. Although after attending college/uni in WNY where you could get a 12pk of 50 for $12-14, I can't stand paying Canadian prices for the stuff! but I digress

Yeah I've had some, not bad for a mainstream beer, much better than Bud or Canadian...
