Another day, another star CFL player off to the NFL.

Derrel Walker off to Tampa Bay. Went to college with Mike Evans, a WR for Tampa.

Good luck to him!

Durant to Montreal for a pair of draft picks...

I am saddened, Durant in Sask would have made it much easier to qualify for the playoffs in the west, as it would have inevitably been Tino Sunseri or whoever starting by week 3

Speculation is James Franklin to Sask now that Durant is gone. We shall see.

That would be a smart move by Sask. I don't know why that wasn't plan A all along given that Durant seems to think he's still worth top dollar. At this point his bargaining position reminds me of a late-career Kerry Joseph, still thinking he's MOP when in reality he is far removed from those lofty heights.

I wonder what kind of deal DD will reach with Montreal... I can't imagine that it would be any more lucrative than what Sask offered.

Durant is fine as quarterback, but he's always needed an offensive line and running game to be really effective. He can play smart controlled offense which we had for a few years, but it came with a balanced attack which doesn't exist anymore. This was a move that was needed two years ago, but no one wanted to listen to me then. So now we gave him up for pretty much nothing. 4th and conditional 2nd. We save salary to go find some other parts, but Chris hasn't proven he can put parts together to resemble a team yet here.

4-14 seems reasonable this year. It is not like we magically have an offensive line this year. I wonder how that will play out with keeping the stadium close to capacity in year two. It's been a while since the Riders have been this bad and the attendance when it was like this dipped into the 75% of capacity at that point, or worse, in the mid 80s range where 60% full happened some games. This is certainly going to test the resiliency of the fan base.

Are you they guy from Winnipeg on the Podcast "Lets Talk CFL"? That group has an unhealthy hate on for DD and the Riders in particular. LOL!

If I'm Ed Hervey, I am asking for a lot for this trade. Riders seem backed into a corner on this one

Just to poke the bear, they also had Jonathan Jennings in camp and didn't think he was good enough

True, I think there is still a scar in Winnipeg over 2007!

Yes that was a brain fart of epic proportions, but remember that was when Chamblien the snake oil salesman was in charge!

Our fearless leader must have a lot of faith in the current crop of QBs in Saskatchewan because he's painting himself into a corner he doesn't want to be in otherwise.

I ask for the moon if I'm Ed Hervey. Chris Cuthbert tweeted out Naaman Roosevelt, Jeff Knox and a high pick for Franklin is what the Esks should ask for. Doubt the Riders' do that but like you said, they are backed into a corner so who knows.

Wink

If the CFL has taught us anything it's that DD still has at least 10 more years to play and 7 more teams to play for.

If Edmonton signs him as a backup this year, KG will have been under contract to every team in the league. I hope they do it just for that reason.

^Hey, you missed the Ottawa Renegades.

You can pencil him in for the 2022 MOP though.

Yes, that is the trajectory for long-serving quarterbacks, isn't it?

He will be on fire in 2022 and lead a team to the Grey Cup game, during which point TSN will remind us with every second breath that he is 43 years old. Various and sundry haters and doubters will be exposed. Then the year after he will be lousy and retire midway through the season.
