Palm Springs & The Salton Sea

Here are some photos from Palm Springs, California. Some of these are from a recent trip, and others and from various trips over the years. Palm Springs is by no means an urban paradise, but it is not without its charms.

And here are some photos from the nearby Salton Sea which, needless to say, has seen better days. These were taken over the course of a day back in April of this year.

(Please excuse the external links, but this is the easiest way for me to post a series of photos like this. Added bonus is that you can click to see larger versions, and also click sidebar info to see geotag info.)

Jesus Christ...you know how to do HDR right. Excellent.

I love Palm Springs, by the way. When I first moved to LA and PS was described to me as this "really hot resort town out in the desert where you just kind of sit by the pool", it didn't sound great at all. When I finally visited, I fell in love with the place. From the wind turbines on the drive in, to all the beautiful and unique mid-century modern architecture, to the 1950's-era motels preserved in all their tacky glory, to the beautiful desolation of hikes in Palm Canyon, to the debauchery of the Coachella festival...what's not to love? Knowing that the place is only a couple hours away is one of my favorite things about being in LA.

Photo threads should have some photographs, not just an offsite link.

Since you've made a habit of starting "photo threads" without any photos and only offsite links, I've reposted the first rule at the top of this subforum:

"My City Photos" Thread Posting Guidelines

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is a pre-requisite that any thread created here must contain urban related photos that were taken by the thread starter....

Very nice pictures. Thanks for showing us.

I´ve liked, specially, those from Palm Springs. Very nice colours and long exposure shots. I like the view of the mountains over the desert. Some buildings or motels are very pretty too. I´d like to visit Palm Springs someday.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

fflint is correct, you need to post the images directly to SSP rather than provide links offsite.

The point of this subsection of the forum is to share urban-related photos, which is what I've clearly done. Why should I waste my time and bandwidth uploading directly here, when they're already uploaded in a neat and tidy package (complete with geotag info)? More importanstly, why are you wasting your time being petty? Please—if you see a thread I've started, just skip over it.
