Entheosfog in Europe: Barcelona Part II, Exploring Raval, Eixample etc

These photos date back to September 2015 when I traveled to Barcelona and then on to other European destinations. This is Barcelona Part II, which features the neighbourhoods of Raval and Eixample mostly, I believe.

In case you missed it and to read the back story on my trip, here is part I:

The next few pictures were taken inside Centre De La Imatge, which featured some La Mercè giants and other characters:

Characters such as these are used in parades during La Mercè festivities in Barcelona. The ones on display here are old examples and are no longer used:

The next few photos are of the Arenas de Barcelona. It was built in 1899-1900 as a bullfighting ring. The last bullfight here was on June 9, 1977. The building was converted into a shopping mall in 2011. There will be more photos of this and from this in my next photo thread:

Excellent pics - thanks for extending the tour! Looking forward to seeing more of your visit.

Barcelona is on my top 10 list of cities that I want to visit.

BTW, there's a novel set in Barcelona that heightened my interest in the city - Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Zafon. It's steeped in the atmosphere of Barcelona & an excellent mystery.

Enjoying your threads. You may be a North American tourist, you captured the awesomeness of the place very well.

This place embodies the most effective pace of the EU to me. Trying to free themselves from their nation to only be a European city and region. The most burning hope of federalism over here, actually.

Places of France or Italy are a bit backward here, in that respect.

Thanks! My brother actually gave me that book for Christmas last year. I have yet to read it but eventually I will.

Thanks! I really enjoyed my time in Barcelona and can't wait to go back.
