Vancouver, If I Lived in a Twelfth Floor Condo :: Part Three of Three

At long last, here's the final part of my Vancouver series. Considering the controversy the first and second parts, I thought I would add this disclaimer. Please read it carefully.

This photothread is a subjective account of four days I spent in Vancouver last August. It is meant in no way to represent, in any accurate measure, the geographic, demographic, ethnic or cultural makeup of the city.

Enjoy.

Very nice, now I have to go look at the other threads and see what was so controversial.

Pfff. What's with you and Asians, Kilgore Trout?

Just kidding!

Beautiful photos. I've been meaning to drive up from Portland, but with the exchange rate and all that... Well, it will probably get even worse, so there's no better time than now!

That building was designed by Henriquez and Partners, there is a monstrous planter up there to support the tree, I'm sure someone then look up the details.
It was designed to evoke the tree truck running down the thru the middle of the building (large pillar), the height of the top of the tree is also the same as the original trees that were in that spot when Vancouver was discovered by Europeans. The building won a architectural award when it was completed.

Mannnnnn that is a sweet city. One of my favorites in the world, based on the pictures I've seen. For a person who likes modern architecture and the condo lifestyle, this is pretty much the mecca, it looks like.

Very, very well done!

Honestly those are some of the best photos I have ever seen of my city. They remind me quite a lot of a photography exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery of a photographer named Fred Herzog. He took slides of Vancouver on Kodachrome in the 1950s and they were of streetlife, the people, the decay, the utterly new, the roads, the buses, the lights and the weather. They captured the city at a critical time in its life and I think you've done the same. Hang onto those photos, or better yet get them developed and into a gallery. They're that good.

What an amazing city. It has to be one of the most pleasant larger cities on the planet.

Is that giallo?
