Even more so in-person. In a glimpse you think it's part of the permanent structure.

The picture itself is older so no need to embed it. What is interesting is this tidbit in the comments:
"...We’re scheduled to top out this June!" - 53w53 on Instagram.

Would this refer to only the beams of the crown or with the cladding?

My favourite view of nyc is from the top Rockefeller building. The picture on the top was taken in 2015 & the one below was this week. It’s crazy how much this city changes every time I visit but it’s another reason I’m in love with nyc

I don't understand something so maybe a few of ya can help me out. Why was the height of this building such a big deal with shadows over Central Park when 111 and CPT are both closer to the park and significantly taller?

I suspect this one will take Skyscraper of the year awards.

This was the first out of the gate. The next tallest tower to this one was the Empire State, a full mile to the south. The NIMBYs weren't happy with the other towers either, but those were all designed to fit within specific zoning for those sites (as-of-right). This one wasn't, and paid a price for it.

^Mother of Pearl. Beautiful photos.

Granted, the additional 200' would have been nice, but 1,050' still works perfectly at this location. A commanding presence.
