There's one Whyte Ave by day (and supper too) and a completely different crowd and vibe at night.
Same, except vice versa for 104 Street (downtown).

2 on 104 Street (just north of Whyte) has stunning views, especially so with the Fringe on). Same for the Courtyad Marriot next to the conference centre on Jasper.

With the streetcar, you can hit the downtown outdoor farmers' market on 104 street - which doubles as an informal purebreed dog show - as well as the Fringe and Strathcona farmers' market.
