The steel that they are installing seems rather shorter than the other loads before. Why?

Also, seems like the pace is speeding up, glass seems to be going in a new row every three days, steel installation is going quicker than the normal 3 weeks, and maybe base glass will be installed.

This has been discussed already. There will be space for small eateries, but no full-scale restaurant.

Great to see it pass the Empire State building. Next milestone..the topping out of the roof! A quick question, I know with the parapet on top of the roof slab, the final height will be 1,368 ft the same as the old towers. But exactly how tall will it be just to the flat roof slab (without the parapet)? Will the topping out occur before or after the parapet is installed?

Roof slab is at 1,334'-8" above Ground Floor Slab. Topping out will ocur when they reach the top of parapet.

So exactly how connected to the roof will the parapet be? I mean, is it just basically a superficial structural thing, sitting on top of the roof slab, or will it be somehow interconnected with the roof slab itself, if that makes sense?

There may be room, but I think you're confusing things like the scale of your average taco bell to the old Windows On the World restaurant. There is space for people to eat.

Otie are the builders calling topping out when we are at the top of the parapet as you say. I have also heard it is when the spire is topped?

Topping off is the ceremony when they hoist the final steel beam that would make up the roof. It basically means that the structure of the building is done. The spire and mast doesn't count, and neither does the parapet.

It's connected to the roof slab.

Officially the topping out ceremony should occur once the last piece of the mast's structure is erected: the beacon.

But due to the nature of this project, they're going to celebrate the parapet erection.

The parapet structure is formed basically by the perimeter columns extending 33 feet above the roof slab with spandrel beams spanning between columns.

I bet folks said the very same thing, when the twins were completed. Those 'boring box' shaped buildings as opposed to the Empire State Building, or the Chrysler Building. Yes the originals were not quite as spectacular in character, but they had a sense of beauty in their own way. When this one is finished though it will take on a whole new meaning of beauty.
