I like this plan better than the initial plan.

I actually do like this current iteration of the project. It looks more contemporary and clean. It will age much better as well. I even like the fact that they have the plaza. In this case I think the plaza is appropriate for the location of the project in proximity to everything else in the area.

I totally agree. The first design, came off a little like a vegas style.

This rendering is much better than the previous rendering for the updated Shenzen Hazens vision. I'm now excited again for this project to get underway!

I too love this new rendering much more. Clean, contemporary, slender, simple and elegant.

This is years away. They would have to destroy the Luxe hotel before anything.

I don't think it's Vegas-style at all. It was a needed change from the boxy blandness of the neighboring rooflines.

Contrary to what others say here, the original design was much more better IMO...

I rather have it look like every other tower in South Park.

The old design looked a bit too small and somehow strange between all those other towers.
Then again... you can't argue taste.

Sometimes when you try too hard to dazzle it comes out cheap and ridiculous looking and that's what I thought about the old design. I'm glad they scrapped that crap.

I don't get why everyone is so focused on the aesthetics of this project. I know it's important but I think what's more important is we are losing 200+ units during a housing crisis. On top of that, we are losing the dense, walkable urban neighborhood that we so desperately need around South Park. Has anyone walked around this area on a Sunday? It's like a ghost town if there's no event going on at LA Live. Honestly...who cares if the new design is better than the old

Agree but aesthetics will always be one of those things you can't just completely separate or ignore. It is sad 200+units have been scrapped, especially for this location.

On Sundays, the area around the Pantry is busy with pedestrian traffic. So this project should tie in nicely given it's location location ....

Those 200+ units will be made up in other projects in the area. They won't be missed. Plus there will be so many units coming way before this is complete. Good riddens to that old jumbled up crazy design.

We are losing nothing because the site currently houses the nine-story Luxe Hotel.

The design is even more important than the units. A design has to be realistic and economic.
The Hazens Group already owns the Gateway LAX Hotel and also the Sheraton-San Gabriel Hotel. They might invest some of that money somewhere else in Los Angeles.

Could they have gone even higher? Sure (with a realistic design), but I gladly take those two towers knowingly that their efforts to expand its L.A. operations continue.

Some good points but it would have been really nice had they invested more at this location in downtown rather than somewhere else in Los Angeles.

At least we have more future projects to look forward to around this area...
