Was hoping the new cranes @ Hwy 360 & 183 were going to be for a set of new flyovers but doesn't look that's going to happen. That interchange needs to have a 3-4-5 level stack already. Austin is always so damn slow when it comes to this.

Yes! Me too! I get caught there every day during rush hour and it's awful.

But no. We get a Porsche dealership instead.

Back when the Mopac-183 interchange was in the works in the 80s, there were plans for a flyover bridge between NB 183 and SB 360. In fact you can still a 'stub' where the flyover entrance ramp would have begun (at current the NB 183 exit to 360). The flyover would have taken a good chunk of traffic off the 183 frontage road.

Not quite what you were looking for but they'll start next year on a project that will build flyovers from the Mopac Toll lanes to the new 183 North toll lanes. They'll also increase the exit lanes from 183 SB to Mopac to 2 lanes from 1. There are 2 new flyovers also going in at 183 NB to 45 SB and 45 NB to 183 SB. These are going in even though the freeway is ending.

In terms of ramps to 360, CTRMA wants to do a corridor study on 360 from 183 to 290W. I'm guessing that would be new ramps at 183 and mopac and express lanes down the middle? I don't know. This is separate to the Txdot Project to due overpasses at a number of 360 intersections.

Well, the important thing is that you took the time out of your schedule to take the picture and post it.

I'm confused. AISD HQ is (maybe will be?) the half moon shaped building at the NW corner of the I35/Ben White interchange. The map for this is more or less in the warehouse district.

I googled the coincordinates, and it showed it as the AISD property on West 5th.

I think AISD is slated to move HQ from West 5th to the building at the northwest corner of Ben White and IH35 that is currently being remodeled.

OK, that all makes sense. So they are using a tower crane to move?

Long term — whatever goes on that property can’t be too much bigger than what’s already there, can it? Zoning has to be pretty strict on that side of Lamar, I’m guessing.

I think that's the Carruth Administration site that Schlosser Development bought from AISD a while back. It was either that one or Baker Center, I can't remember. Whichever one it is, Schlosser is planning to build a mid-rise office building there. They have already preleased some of the space to a law firm.

Indeed, it is! Especially southbound 183 to southbound 360. Even during non-rush hours times it's difficult to cross all the access lanes to merge onto 360.

BTW, from the looks of that Porsche dealership and the footprint it's going to take up -- I would think eventually it'll need to be torn down once a flyover finally gets built. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it appears there will be very little vacant space for ramp columns. Of course with the way this town updates (or completes) it's interchanges, that could be another 20 years.

I noticed that. Also, there's a fairly large amount of ROW (just before the overpass) alongside the right of 183NB. All dressed up and nowhere to go

What’s going on at the SE corner of Koenig & 290? Excavators are digging with fencing around the site.

That’s not an intersection.
