Really can’t believe the big step backwards the Oilers have taken, actually shocking, a zillion years of top picks and draft lottery Golden picks with basically just McDavid and Draisital to show for it.

Almost felt sorry for about a second last night when the Jets without their best forward, best Dman and second D pairing we’re beating down the Oilers but then I remembered the 80’s and the Jets futility against the dreaded Oilers!

Well at least Edmonton Taylor Hall fans can watch him in the playoffs come spring.

That Vegas team is fun to watch. Even though they beat my Leafs yesterday I can't hate them. Glad our away games will be less after the holidays.

They were overrated back then, all hype and little substance.

You're saying the Oiler teams of the 80's were "overrated"?

^ No, the Oilers of last year were overrated. Their run was a flash in the pan. The city and the fans bought all the hype and now they're disappointed.

We're really good at hyping things up in Edmonton but really bad at delivering what we said we would

They need to bring back some of the 80s Oiler greats and put them in the front office to turn the team around. That's what's missing... They need the magic from the glory days.

Yep, I'm sure that Gretzky would be chomping at the bit to leave SoCal, his trophy actress wife and Hollywood lifestyle to traipse back to Edmonton during the depths of winter..

Where's Messier hanging his hat these days - the Big Apple????

Now, I am sure that Gretzky hasn't moved the family to Edmonton, but he does currently work for the Oilers.

I expect them to won tonight against LA and then maybe the next one and give a glimmer of hope and then return to the dumpster fire and lose three straight. It should be readily apparent that this is at best an NHL .500 team. Welcome to reality Oilers. You need a system and more than ten players playing it. Find a coach. Find someone who can evaluate talent. They've been MIA for more than a decade.

Or just lose 5-0 for four in a row. That fifteen games over .500 prediction by someone isn't off to a great start at 1-4 since then.

Oilers fans jinxed their team by getting cocky way too soon.

Time to reinstate the jersey toss at Oiler home games?

At this point I think they've fully upgraded to tire fire.

After the Oil drafted McJesus and the Flames got a goaltender, I was hoping to see a 'Battle of Alberta' in the playoffs. That just doesn't seem likely anymore.
