A Canadian architect is getting back to his roots with a proposal for the world’s tallest wooden skyscraper. The 275-foot, approximately $66.4 million timber building could rise in Vienna, Austria as early as next year, according to Curbed.
The Canadian architect Michael Green introduced the concept via a TED talk that has been viewed more than a million times. “I believe that wood is the most technologically advanced material I can build with,” Green said in his talk. “It just happens to be that Mother Nature holds the patent.”

This project was the winner of the Georgian Group Architectural Award in 2014 for best new building in the Classical tradition. The building was noted for it’s “subtle and fluid evocation of classical principles giving a result that manages to be playful as well as imposing”.
