Penick does not have a projected project cost, however he does note that since it is almost 2008 now, there needs to be at least a year for planning, design and final approvals. Construction should commence in early 2009
I can wait a year and a half.
Hopefully, in the meantime, the design won't lose its integrity.

Am I the first to notice that it has a vague resemblance to St Patrick's Cathedral?

That's true.
Nouvel's Torre Agbar, in Barcelona, was meant to be a reference to the Sagrada Familia. I wouldn't be surprised if Nouvel had explicitely thought of St Patrick here.

You're good. I was thinking that same exact thing yesterday. To me, its like the lovechild between the Chrysler and St. Pat's.

It's kind of hard because we don't have exact numbers for a lot of those towers, including this one. I know Extell's proposal is about 1,239 ft.

I love this design. It will easily be the best thing to go up in NYC in quite a while IF it happens - Fingers crossed it goes ahead.

Give me heights and I'll give you diagrams.

Ok... Alliance... here's your info.! The heights are based on counting # of floors from drawings, estimating height per floor and estimating the pinnacle height after the last roof top floor:

1.) W. 54th; (Hines, Nouvel) tower: 1150' (77 stories to roof or top floor), 1300' spire,
2.) (Sherwood, KPF) 2.5 mil sq. ft. hotel and/or office: 1128' (roof or top floor), 1248' pinnacle, 74 stories (64 stories plus 10 story base)
3.) GiraSol (Monian, fxfowle) 1.6 mil sq. ft. mixed/residential: 1075' (70 stories to roof or top), 1200' to crown
4.) 360 10th Ave. (Extel, Holl): 774' roof/crown

Of course there's many other proposals but no drawings e.g.,

World Product Center (Extel, KPF), 1.5 mil sq. ft., 50 stories 750' roof, 850' crown (estimate only).

Anyway... if you could add the FOUR this would be Fantastic!!

when did the sherwood tower
A) get finalized
B) lose floors
C) gain a 120' crown?

I haven't even seen a official rendering yet

Don't know where you've been... but there's a "Midtown: Hudson Yards" thread... the prelim. drawings (nothing finalized) have been out for months... go to KPF.com and check out their website... Here's the thread link...

There are no preliminary drawings. AS I've said a few post before, there are no exact height figures for a lot of those towers, so talk of a diagram at this point is useless.

And now, for our daily bread...

I wonder who will attempt to climb this one...

This seems bogus to me as thats 15' per floor. I didn't see a height figure in this thread and I haven't been able to keep up with all the reading.

Do we have a "taller than ___this building___" or anyhting for this tower?

Nice. I like the building, just not too much. I think it looks like Russia Tower but with 2 "wings" instead of 3.

WOW! Its purdy. I like how the building itself looks like a spire instead of adding some oversized phalic symbols to the top afterwards.

Even though my attention has shifted to the west side, I still got love for this baby...
