Photos from yesterday, 7/8/08. The residential floors have topped out and the "fin" on the west side is just starting.

In the past few months, windows and the facade have been installed on all sides of the building, though Hurricane Ike tore away some of the insulation components around the 15th & 20th floors before they could be covered up.

Since then, they've made significant progress installing the actual facade over the internal materials.

Here are some photos from this morning.

Looks like they're putting up the supports around the mechanical penthouse and along the top floors of the western facade for the "fin".

I love the design of this building and when I come back to houston in a couple weeks Ill be sure to go visit it. Its a shame that all of these sexy towers are getting built in these areas and not downtown. But oh well, from a distance Houstons skyline just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It may not be all that dense but from the ship channel its looks huge!

This tower is so much nicer than most of the other recent condo towers that have gone up. I am so glad this one came through even after the developer died before it officially got off the ground.

Photo- While it may appear to be in the middle of nowhere, this is the BEST loaction in the city for a condo tower. It literally straddles River Oaks (the city's old money hood) and is within 5 to 10 minutes of downtown (to the East), the Med Center (to the southeast), Greenway Plaza (southwest) and Uptown (the West).

I actually chuckled a bit when I saw that middle of nowhere comment...

Minus the fact it's a few blocks from a 34-story condo, a decent sized mixed-use project that already has plans to expand across the street, several mid-rise apartment buildings under construction & recently completed and the aformentioned well established Upper Kirby neighborhood... yeah. Nowhere.

They really are great pics though. Closing down part of Kirby does make the job of shooting that much easier.

Well its not in the middle of nowhere, I was meaning with that comment that I wish it had gone somewhere that was already pretty dense, like the Galleria area or downtown. Houston just has a lot of random towers that are located in low rise to mid rise residential areas like this one. I do love the design though.

Yesterday from the TMC. Looks like they're about to complete the facade around the Mechanical penthouse.

The building is almost fully complete. The last panels of the metal portion of the facade on the penthouse level (30th floor) had their wrapping peeled away earlier in the week, and the driveway around the entrance is almost integrated with Kirby Drive.

Also, several pages of the website have been updated in the recent past, with photos. They include the the building's features, The Aqua Level and a look at the main lobby. There's also this page with about 8 different snapshots.

A photo from Swamplot...

So does anyone think the black base is just ugly. From all the renderings put out it was suppose to be a silver color like the rest of the tower. Where did the black come from. I think it takes away from the building. Besides the base I think the tower looks awesome. Hope they light up the top really nice at night...

Yikes. That base really distracts the eye from the building.

So this is pretty much completed isn't it? I saw it off in the distance, but wasn't sure because of the rain.

The rendering was great, but the final product disappoints.
