Sneak preview of the photos taken yesterday at Ernest "Dutch" Morial School, beautifully designed by Waggonner and Ball! Stay tuned for a full tour of this gorgeous new and #sustainable school. #whatwillyoubuildtoday #wearebuilders

Well, not really. There were historically unconnected townhouses with vertical roof edges on that block. The previous building in that lot though was an abomination.

To each his own. I think they looked great in person and if you check out the website you can see that this isnt the final completed look

Thanks for the diagrams, seeing that makes it a little better!

when you say cleaning up do you mean removng all the graffiti on it or something more? only thing i saw recently was an application to combine the lots into one lot of record.

Tulane Goldring-Woldenberg Center is taking shape. We created a monorail system to install the glass panels across the 220-foot facade, carefully avoiding those beautiful oak trees!

Thats great news about the Hostel! Hostelling International have a number of locations all over America and beyond and it surprised me how they had locations in a lot of less typical tourist locations than New Orleans. This will definitely appeal to younger travellers as there isn't a great deal of choice for hostels in the area in comparison to hotels. Great location too.

I've stayed in one of their hostels before and was a member of HIUSA and its really decent experience.

Theres another Hostel planned next to this one too. I think we just found a great way to reuse these building on Canal that are tough for other resuses. hsotels especially modern ones are great density and can really help add life to an area. def good news!

Yep, I have no doubt this hostel will be packed and bring a lot of extra tourism and foot traffic to Canal Street. Hi Hostels tend to run a lot of activities for tourists like bar crawls, food nights, walking tours and various other excursions - i.e cheap tickets to local sports games, probably swamp tours and the like. Its very good for solo travellers as well, unlike the exclusive nature of hotels. Hostels have definitely been a gap in the market that will soon be plugged.

I was looking at all the hotel brands we currently have here or on the way... what brands that havent made it here do you guys think we should pick up or would like to see:

Some for me would have to be:

St Regis, Sofitel, Conrad Hilton, Hotel Andaz, Edition Hotels, Thompson, Standard, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri La, Yotel, Palomar, Kimpton, Trump, Hard Rock, MGM, Equinox Gyms new hotel chain, Even Hotels, Hualuxe (new brand of hotels geared specifically to Chinese guest.. theres 1.3 billion Chinese.. surely a hotel like this will be good for any major market to have going forward), BVLGARI, Delta, Element

I definetly see a future for Conrad, Andaz, Thompson, Trump, Hard Rock, & MGM. Others, not so much.
