Sometimes, and especially on this tour signal, nouvel's renderings are a bit over the top and very ambiguous...

Tour AVA 142m

142m
58,700m²
Architect : Manuelle Gautrand

Quote:

The regeneration of La Defense gets a green emblem in Generali Tower

As part of the EPAD’s recently launched campaign “renouveau de la Défense,” the Group Gererali in conjunction with the developer Vinci Immobilier, have unveiled the development of a new office tower designed by the international competition laureate Valode & Pistre Architects.

The slender silhouette of the Generali Tower will add a new landmark to the skyline of la Défense. Its form and location will contribute to the urban renewal of the business district sought by the EPAD, addressing both the pedestrian and the vehicular levels of its immediate context.

Sustainability is at the heart of the architectural concept of the Generali Tower. The building’s innovative structure and envelope, as well as the choice of its technical and mechanical equipments - opening windows, suspended gardens at all levels - will enhance the user’s comfort whilst reducing energy consumption. The production of renewable energies has also been incorporated in the tower’s design, 18 vertical axis wind turbines, 1,700 sq m of photovoltaic cells and 600 sq m of solar panels are located in the towers central spire, giving it a unique silhouette in La Défense.

Encompassing 90 000 sq m (nearly 1 million sq ft) of gross floor area, the tower will house various facilities including an auditorium, club lounges, numerous restaurants and a crèche. Delivery of the tower is scheduled for 2012.

La Défense, ¡Magnifique! L'AVA est grand. Le sommet de la tour pour simuler les mansardes, si fréquents dans l'architecture française.

Jeeze! I don't think this is fair...centuries of beautiful architecture and now this! I'm crying on the inside...but am still happy for Paris. Those are some AMAZING renderings. Who ever comes up with these plans knows EXACTLY what they are doing, unlike some other city planners I know...(not pointing any fingers)

There are some awesome projects going up in Paris right now! What is the status of the D2 Tower, Generali, and Jean Nouvel's tower? Have they broken ground on these buildings? Is financing at least set up? These towers are all amazing in their own right (D2 is the best design I believe), and they would look great in La Defense.

At first, I didn't like the Nouvel tower. But I changed my mind after seeing those interior renderings. That looks awesome! I still like some of the other proposals more, but I am less disappointed that they chose Nouvel's tower...I wish it looked like his MoMA proposal for Manhattan.

They have 94 and 92 floors respectively. They will have the tallest habitable floors in the European Union by far. In fact the last floor should be even higher than the last floor of the Eiffel Tower (which is "only" 276m/906ft above street level). The last habitable floor in the Foster's twin towers should be about 320m/1,050ft above street level judging from the renderings.
