Also included in that envelope are stamps, similar to the old trading stamps,if you're old enough to remember those. Those stamps reflect those straight and overtime hours and are used to show proof of hours worked so they can be credited toward retirement and medical benefits. Those stamps are placed in a book for every year. When it comes time to retire, the said worker will have a book for every year worked. For instance,if the guy retires after 35 years,he should have 35 yearly books he turns in and retirement is based on the number of stamps in each book. Not many locals use the stamp books anymore. Most locals have gone to an electronic system nowadays. I will say though that it,in my opinion is a better way. I hope that helps a bit.
Thanks very much for that detailed explanation!!

It was decided not to because their stamps are still so far behind. They've been talking about guys volunteering to take time off because with the stamps so far behind they can't afford to lay anyone off - when you're laid-off, they have to pay you everything you're owed including your stamps to date. It's not just 1WTC with these issues, 4WTC was talking about a sit-down strike for the same reasons.
You, too, thanks!

There's almost a sense of normalcy in the Downtown skyline that has been reestablished.

If you mean how do you know when it's topped out: You just connect the lines. This is the simpliest building you could find that pretains to it being completed and when.

If you mean exactly 350 meters: I guess you can't tell without the cranes. But there's not much the cranes tell you anyway.

This is the start of a great age for New York. I can already feel it.

Not yet. It would at the next jump. 350 meters=1,158 feet.

If you want to know when it would be topped off it would be early 2012.

I believe 1WTC has already passed the Chrysler Building and NY Times. Now just BofA Building and the King left to conquer.

One World Trade Center views from floor number 80. Credits goes to Gizmodo and WTC Progress.

All I can say is "We got our freaking view from the top back! This is almost similar to the view from the original WTC."

With the addition of new towers built over the last decade, that view from WTC1 will be even more impressive than the original.

That shot of the reflection of the WTC construction inside the Jersey City memorial is pure poetry. Great find, NYguy.
