And is it better to be called a Rose Nylund than a Blanche Devereaux?

Lol, yes, one of the funniest and most well-produced sitcoms ever created in my opinion. Incidentally, I am repeatedly called Blance.

Unbelievable.

Downtown Saskatoon sculpture knocked over, smashed

Part of a well-known sculpture in downtown Saskatoon has been knocked down and destroyed.

Sometime last night, two of the pieces in Leslie Potter's sculpture Visionaries was knocked over and smashed.

A plaque on the base of the statues says the sculpture represents the "need to develop peace in our time."

The three tall stone figures have stood on the corner of 2nd Avenue and 21st Street since 1994

^ Unfortunate situation.

Brought your post over from construction to the off-topic thread and edited the broken link to the article.

I guess there must be a lot of people interested in how the Portage and Main - at grade crossings yea or nay debate turned out.

That sculpture looks like it would have destroyed just about any of today's plastic cars.

Probably better to give some context... it's one of the Jay and Silent Bob guys and Moose Jaws is the third in a horror comedy series...

It's not meant to be an amazing high production value masterpiece... I'm not a fan of him (I don't dislike him.. just not all that familiar), but he has a bit of a following.

I hope the downtown Winnipeg BIZ keeps going with the pianos placed downtown for public use and maybe adds one or two more... even if it's not the best pianist in the world, whenever someone sits down to play a song or two it adds something to the ambience.

What did they do to keep them in somewhat working order? Regina had one, but they would leave it out in the rain and frost uncovered. When I tried to play it all the keys were pretty much stuck entirely.

They removed the outdoor ones for the winter. There's one inside Portage Place right now.

I have to admit I'm ignorant of the problems with them but my musically inclined friends say they're horribly out of tune... they sound all right to me, though!

^Temperature and humidity fluctuations are scary for wood. The wood expands and contracts and puts them out of tune very quickly. It's okay to be a bit out of tune, but Regina left there's out in the rain which is retarded and then it was on Scarth Street so I'm sure it had beer poured over the keys and such as well. I think I could still get a picture of it because it was still on the square beside what was supposed to be the skating hut structure last time I walked by.

Like many concepts in Regina it was half-baked.

So as an NK resident, I get a 4% increase in school taxes (River East Transcona SD), 9.2% increase in water bill, 3% increase in civic property taxes, 20% increase on frontage levy...
