That one on the end looks kind of dead.

Townhouse coming together a bit more, plus a little more landscaping:

Riding the Spider. No thanks!

"Riding the spider." Sounds like a Jim Morrison lyric or something.

Another angle of the townhouses:

The entrance is pretty much done except for the landscaping:

What's up with the world's tiniest patch of lawn? Just a bathroom for the building's pets?

Question New "slant" on life?

Whomever planted the trees didn't bother to check on the "vertical" aspect. Looks (to me) as though they are all leaning, or perhaps it's the camera lens effect?

As usual, I don't think landscaping is at the forefront of this developer's attention. As I pointed out earlier, one of those trees already looks dead. In these views, several others appear to have dead or dying branches. They are probably leaning because the vicious wind up there has blown them over a bit and nobody cares enough to straighten them up or properly support them until they take root.

Risky Business: Rent by the Day at One Rincon Hill
An enterprising owner at One Rincon Hill is renting a floor unit by the day. $100 per day will score you a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condo with full amenities, and valet parking for one car. Renters will find cable TV and Internet service, but no phone lines (you know, just in case there's an earthquake). Your new One Rincon hideout is only available from Sunday night, 7pm until Friday evening at 7pm; holidays are to be had only at the landlord's discretion, at $150 per day. Our owner claims that his spot is perfect for commuters or other biz folks in need of posh, short-term housing. Exactly what kind of business, you ask? That, we cannot answer. Hourly rates? All inquiries should be directed to: 760-809-6687 or http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/apa/749205687.html

There'll be more of this unless the HOA forbids it.

At my condo, you can only rent your unit 4 times a year (no matter for how long).

It's a lot cheaper than a comparable hotel room.

^ Short term rentals like this are against the CC&R's of most condo associations, and I bet this one is no different. They likely have rules that allow for fines at the very least, and liens if the fines build up. We had a guy try this in my building last year and he tried to get around it, so we simply instructed our front desk staff not to let his guests in the building.

There's also most likely a local zoning ordinance that prohibits rentals shorter than a defined time period of time based on the approved use of the building, and usually only hotels and SRO hotels have the right to do this. So technically you can get the police involved since it's an illegal business practice.

i saw this listing on CL. the original posting is renting out only monday thru friday, but long term. im not sure how this will affect the HOA rule. on the other token, im sure the daily renting is strictly prohibited. the rincon HOA do not allow lease shorter than 6 month.

SFist agrees that the tiny circular lawn leaves you wanting.

I think that patch looks a little bizarre myself. I dont mind it so much, but I wonder why they choose to leave it so simple. A redwood tree would go nice there, but that might block the view of the first 25 floors

I like hi123's idea. It's the perfect place for a fountain.

As is mentioned in the Flickr link within the SFist article, it appears that the patch of grass is only temporary, and the entrance landscaping will be completed once Caltrans finishes their work on the ramp there.

It looks like one of those annoying Berkeley traffic calming roundabouts, without the kid friendly murals or carefully, lovingly even, chosen native plants.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing just before reading the comments section.

You're probably right, Cowboy.

Rem, one of the comments echoed something I was thinking as well: it's potential to be a bathroom for the building's resident pets.
