I have followed the path of the Bievre river in Saint Marcel few weeks ago.
The Bievre is an underground river, it was burried in the 19th, early 20th century.
Bièvre river was one of main the economic source of Saint-Marcel, industries like tanneries were depending of the small river.
So much that this area was very polluted and Bievre was much like a sewer than a river.
Infact the Bievre no longer joins the Seine river, it goes directly into the sewer system.
Today, it's difficult to follow the path of the Bievre inside Paris, due to numerous urban development, the street pattern doesn't follow the river except on few exceptions.
