Headed out to enjoy the last days of Summer by going north to Evanston, Illinois; a city about 15 miles, and 30 minutes, north of downtown Chicago. It's a quick and visually appealing drive, and the payoff once you reach your destination is worth it. The high quality and incredible quantity of houses fill the expansive neighborhoods until they reach the coast of Lake Michigan. Iconic architecture and great outdoor space make Evanston a truly unique addition to the greater Chicagoland area.
Driving there
Edgewater Beach Hotel
Band camp on Labor Day?
Went to Walker Bros or breakfast. The line was long, but it moved pretty quickly. Omelette was good and the pancakes were really good!
One of my favorite places on the trip, the Baha'i Temple. It's very impressive to see in person. The grounds are impeccable as well.
The harbor is basically directly across the street. Really nice boats in there.
Next, we went to Gillson Park to take the beautiful Lake Mchigan. It was a bit breezy off the lake, but the sun kept it warm and comfortable.
The brick road we parked on.
We went a bit further north to Winnetka to see the "Home Alone" house. "Keep the change, ya filthy animal!" Ha
Cool road out heading back to Sheridan.
Hope you enjoyed!

what's funny is that for a photo thread titled "Evanston and Surrounding Suburbs", only two of your shots are actually from evanston (#4 & #5), LOL!
walker brothers pancake house, the bahai temple, wilmette harbor, and gilson beach are all located just north of evanston in neighboring wilmette. and all were part of the stomping grounds of my childhood growing up there. thanks for the trip down memory lane. and even though i've seen it hundreds of times, the bahai temple is still utterly spectacular!

So my title is technically still accurate then! Ha! I figured, geographically, more people probably would know the general Evanston area over a smaller suburb. Not a big deal though. Wilmette and Surrounding Suburbs works for me too
^ it's all good, i was just clarifying for others who might have clicked on the thread to see pics of evanston that this thread really doesn't show much of evanston at all, just a shot of a church window and another one of NU marching band students practicing. other than those two shots, the first 3 pics are northside chicago, the last two pics are in winnetka, and the rest are all in wilmette.
