IDAHO SHOWS WELL AT WINE SUMMIT

Idaho wineries brought home 47 medals at this year's Northwest Wine Summit, held in Seattle.
Idaho went up against wines from Oregon, Washington and British Columbia and won nine gold, 17 silver and 20 bronze awards out of a field of more than 1,100 wines and some of the best in the region.
Some highlights:
Cinder winemaker Melanie Kraus won four medals, taking the top prize with Best of Region with her 2009 Viognier.
Other golds were won by Fraser Vineyard's 2009 Viognier; Hell's Canyon's 2004 Cabernet Reserve and 2006 Merlot Reserve; Indian Creek 2009 Chardonnay and Viognier (Indian Creek took home a total of 10 medals); Koenig Vineyards for 2008 Riesling Ice Wine; Pend d'Oreille Winery for its 2008 Viognier; and Vale Wine Co. for its 2008 Syrah.
