Cross-country skiing?

Anyone have some favorite cross-country skiing places in the area? All the fresh snow would make this weekend a perfect time to hit the trails.

Looking for a trail that would be easy-to-moderate. It's been a while!

Hamilton Conservation Authority:

Valens Lake offers an excellent winter camping experience in its pine and spruce forest. Sites are available for tenters and RV users as are hydro hook-ups, heated washrooms and showers. When conditions are suitable, visitors may enjoy ice-skating and 10 kilometers of groomed trails, good for cross-country skiing and winter hiking. Christie Lake on Highway 5 in Flamborough also offers 10 kilometers of trails. Cross-country skiing is particularly popular when weather and trail conditions permit. For more information about Christie, call 905-628-3060 or e-mail christie@conservationhamilton.ca.

When conditions are suitable, the Dundas Valley Conservation Area is a cross-country skier's dream. The valley's 40-kilometre trail system offers a challenging mix of terrain for the more experienced skier. Those looking for more moderate conditions may try the smooth, level surface of the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail which runs through the valley.

There's also Binbrook Conservation Area located about 20 minutes' drive south of the Linc/Red Hill elbow.

You might also consider Conservation Halton's XC ski trails. Unfortunately, Crawford Lake and Mountsberg trails are closed but Rattlesnake Point is open.

With all this snow any of the rail trails are good. Kings Forest golf course has decent skiing as well.

My personal fav is the Dundas Valley, though the skiing isn't ideal for beginners. Don't let that stop you, though. Have fun!

Agreed with NortheastWind on the rail trails, and with pEte fiSt iN Ur fAce on Dundas Valley. Loads of snowshoers and XC skiers out there yesterday.

It's supposed to break 0°C by early afternoon and rain overnight, so don't leave it too long, though.
