Office Tower Unveiled for Midtown Atlanta

Quote:
An Atlanta developer could soon pull the trigger on plans to build what could become the tallest new office building the Midtown district has seen in nearly a decade.

Cousins Properties controls a small slice of Midtown 887-909 West Peachtree St., and the company intends to erect a 30-story office tower on the plot, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Cousins should close on the property soon, and the 500-foot (152.4-meter) proposal would be the district’s tallest office building since the company’s 1075 Peachtree (part of the massive, still-evolving 12th and Midtown project) was delivered in 2010, the publication reports.

The development would stand a block away from Georgia Tech and even closer to the Midtown MARTA Station—on the plot that currently houses The Daiquiri Factory.

The office tower, which could grow to some 500,000 square feet (464,451 square meters) and cost up to $200 million to develop, will be designed by architectural firms Pickard Chilton and HKS, Inc., according to the ABC.

Cousins is vying to have the property under contract before summer’s end, and construction could reportedly begin as soon as the beginning of next year.

A stalwart among Atlanta developers, Cousins has been active in this flank of Midtown recently.

The developer’s NCR headquarters opened its first-phase, 20-story tower just north of Tech Square earlier this year, and work on the second component is expected to finish late in 2018. That complex will eventually host 5,000 employees.

Solid. Pickard Chilton never disappoints.

5 years later and it's a fenced off empty lot.

That should explain it all.
