Very nice pictures of Berlin on the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Thanks for sharing all these historical shots, zeitgeist.

Great initiative to settle all those 8000 illuminated ballons in to celebrate it.

The only time I have ever been in Berlin was in 1966, at the height of the Cold War, when the Wall was very much in place. I remember standing at an observation platform overlooking Potsdamer Platz and it was all ruins. Some of the bombed-out buildings from WWII hadn't even been pulled down yet.

Nice pictures. I see that there's some Belgian blocks or stones marking where the wall was in some of the pictures. Is there an outline along the entire former wall?
