Question, I am sure this has been posted, but don't feel like reading thru 51 pages of posts. How close in height is Freedom Tower roof (without spire) to the roofs of the old WTC towers?

If memory serves, It's exact. The official roofline is 1,362' which was the height of the shorter tower. There's an architectural element (or something) that raises that to 1368' which was the taller of the two originals.

Yes, the height has been shortened a bit, but not much where it would make any difference.

And I'm so glad that they reversed the dead space and put it on the BOTTOM instead on the top like it was before!

What is the situation about the floors of the Freedom Tower ?
Are they 82, 102 or 108?
In my opinion every floor has a roof and so are there 108 roofs and 108 real floors in the Freedom Tower ?
The old Twin Towers had 110 real floors, and even the lobby was high many metres it was only 1 floor !!!!
Are there news about a possible outdoor deck?

The FT has the exact same roof height as one of the old Twins... but today's floors tend to have heigher ceilings. That makes the inhabitants more comfortable... and isn't that more important than a floor count?

NYguy makes the point that 2 WTC is considerably further back than the FT, making it appear far shorter. Whether it's SO far back to make it appear as short as in this rendering... well, we'll see.

Thanks. So it is basically identical in height to the old towers without the spire.

In terms of roof height, exactly. In terms of structural height, though, the FT is considerably taller - the antenna on one of the Twins was nearly as tall, but antennas don't count for structural height. Neither was the old antenna nearly as prominent.

The old twin towers had 110 floors with 415-417m roof, this tower's actual roof will a bit shorter and will have 108 floors. Ain't the ceiling height in both cases basically almost the same ?

I think as far as the occupied or real floors go, there are 82 or 83. The unoccupied or mech. floors are not counted as public or office floors.

I read that the base of the Freedom tower will have 19 mechnicalsfloors and will have high 57 metres. Does mean this that will be there 19 ceilings and that every ceiling will have only 3 metre or 19 floors are only ghost floors ?
Are there news about an outdoor deck observatory ?

This is off topic, but I am curious if there will be any reports of hauntings within the buildings once they are completed. I know it may sound stupid, but I always see that kind of stuff on TV. I guess its possible.

Well, the WTC, as you may know, was no stranger to death.

The two latest ones were when a construction worker fell from the 21st floor down an elevator shaft at 7 WTC when it was under construction.

The last one was when a crazed maniac shot himself to death, and he waited good until he was within the boundries of Ground Zero to do it.

It just seems like the place where something like that would happen. I for one would not want to work in the basement of those towers. No matter how old I get, things like Ghosts make me cringe.

Ill just have to take my chances.

I never got the chance to visit the old one. And I want to go to the top of the Freedom Tower, just to say that I've been there.
