when do they break ground on the tall building in the Southmarket District? Isn't it supposed to be 30+ floors? That would make it about twice as tall as the one pictured above!

Some welcome news for the old Lindy Boggs Medical Center: crews are clearing/cleaning out the facility now.

The article mentions that the development company (headed by Joe Jaeger) might rehab the building into an elderly assisted living center.

It's great to see something happening with Lindy Boggs and that the suit has be cleared up. I was actually about to mention it before I saw the article - crews are moving FAST on this.

I'm just glad to see movement, but I have doubts about the assisted living plan. The area around the building has routinely gotten several feet of water in recent heavy rains (the photo of a guy kayaking to Bayou Beer Garden across the street comes to mind) and so emergency services would be a concern. I think some combination of condos/apartments and office space would probably be the way to go. There is a lack of good medical/dental etc. space in Mid-City. Someone mentioned a hotel, which would probably do well, but the question there is getting the neighbors on board and the necessary approvals.

well for assisted living you could at least make the facility self sustaining for sometime. maybe that could work.. its definitely been an eyesore for so long so its great to see it getting worked on

Happy to see progress on the Odeon! Hopefully that will break ground soon! And I live two blocks from the Lindy Boggs center and noticed that there's been crews there in recent weeks, ready for that eye sore to be remedied.

I can also look down out my window and see that that apartment complex along the greenway has been doing foundation prep work lately too, theres a couple of bulldozers out there they've been moving dirt around with.
