Road trip: Pittsburgh to Minneapolis (Mostly Mnpls. Pics)
My sister went to a small christian college outside of St. Paul, Minnesota and in fall of 2005 I rode with my father and my sister to take her back to school for one of her last semesters.... Took some pictures along the way:
I slept from Pennsylvania, through Ohio and most of Indiana. So the first pics I got are passing Gary, Indiana:
Then we pulled into Chicago:
Then we went to the top of the tallest building in the United States. The Sears Tower:
Boeing Headquarters:
Then we went to millenium park:
My pops and my seestar:
Sister:
Sulley, we stayed at this Sheraton in Arlington Heights suburb:
That concludes Illinois. Here is my pictures of Wisconsin:
Then we got to Minnesota:
Best Buy Headquarters:
My sisters college; Bethel Christian College:
Then we made a brief visit to communist China:
Then back to beautiful downtown Minneapolis:
The sexy police found out I was in town and arrested me for being well over the legal limit:
My father and sister were unusually excited about this big spoon for some reason:
PA Pride (me):
Then we walked around the beautifully dense downtown. The next couple shots I was just showcasing some cool urban textures I saw:
My sister making her sexy lips for all of SSP to enjoy:
Minneapolis is such a huge Hanson fan as a city that they painted the sheet music for the song "MMM Bop" on a wall:
The next day on our way home we drove past St. Paul but the weather was shitty so no good pics of that place.
Pennsylvania Ave. and shitty weather... It made us Pennsylvanians feel right at home:
3M corporate Headquarters:
On our way home we drove through the Wisconsin Dells family vacation town. These next weird pictures are from there:
Here's what Wisconsin thinks about the current presidental administration:
Wisconsin pride:
A beautiful rural Wisconsin sunset:
Proof that we rode the Minneapolis lightrail from downtown to the mall:
A fun trip overall but it feels good to be home!!!
(Credit to Flash who took that last photo - I think).
Colday: As you can see from the pictures, clearly Gary, Indiana was the highlight of the trip. At the very least we scored the best crack of our trip there.
Sacto: Thanks!
Stlgasm: Yes
Evergrey: No
Ex-Ith: Hell yeah, it was a good ass time. I don't know what the foshay tower is but your welcome.
Mrhero: yup; Thanks fer noticing
Yeah, everyone needs to go visit downtown Minne. if you love dense city centers. It is definitely one of the best in the country. This was the most suprising city tour I've ever embarked upon; I wasn't really expecting much for whatever reason and then of course it turned out to be awesome. The only problem is that all the white people including the women are like 6 1/2 feet tall and have long blonde hair and clearly are vikings from scandinavia disguised as Americans. Someone should do something about that.
I am glad you enjoyed your trip.
The Foshay is the Washington Monument looking art deco tower that says FOSHAY on it. It is about to be converted into a hotel. I t also has a nice quaint outdoor observation deck too. I do not understand why people always love the Spoonbrigde and Cherry sculpture. I for one really hate it. I find it stupid looking. That might have more to do with me seeing it so often.
Side note on the line of buses. When I was a little kid, I wanted to drive a #10 bus when I grew up. I lived right off of Central Ave so I rode those buses all the time.
Hey, those are my friends on that poster on the saloon...Danny, Johnie, Brock and Aydan! Now they are nationally famous, not just on Hennepin ave!
No I am not making those names up, I actually know those people cuz I am a bar fly apparently.
Stephenapolis: Thanks for letting me know what tower that is... Foshay, for sure! I'm verrry unobservant....
MSPtoMKE: Thanks.. The weather didn't really hamper much cause we were on our way home.. I was probably just gonna get passing by shots of St. Paul anyway... It looked nice bbut we simply didn't have enough time this trip to stop and walk around like in Minne.
MNMike: That's really cool! So glad you spotted your homies in my picture... We were just driving around and i had my camera poised for action and that caught my eye... It wasn't soething that I was overly excited about cause I'm straight but I just liked the angle or whatever... Cool!
Paintballer: It was a blast.. Truly a great American city...
Peaceful: Thanks! yes it was.
Sulley: Sorry, it's not your favorite corporation of Southwest, but I thought you might enjoy it anyway.
I am glad you enjoyed your trip.

Not one of the most attractive buildings in the world, but it holds a special place in my heart (along with many others, ie. the Smith Tower in Seattle, Terminal Tower in Cleveland) because it was the tallest in Minneapolis when I first started looking up building heights in the World Almanac (Buildings Tall section) waaaaaay back in the day.

That is right. Aren't you the oldest forumer? I am up there too, But at least the IDS was starting construction when I was born. So as far back as I can remember it has always been the tallest.
