Too bad about the height reduction. Oh well, still nice.

Even though it is down 100 feet, this thing will still appear just as massive, if not more, than the ESB and Chrysler.

Looks like the height reduction is just in regards to the spire, right?

That's not from the zoning diagram. Scroll down a little further, I don't have access right now.

The tower hasn't just been reduced from that height, it's slightly smaller overall, with about 1.3 msf of space (minus mechanical). That makes it about half the size of 30 Hudson, but virtually a twin in height. What's shown in the diagram is what's currently proposed and the higher diagram is what made it's way through the approval process.

This tower is enormous. As we can see... a whole city block.

It's still quite a building, and the fact that it's the 3rd tallest currently under construction just shows how much we have to look forward too.

Right now it's below grade, so we have 1,401 ft plus whatever depth its at added onto it to look forward too!

Not to mention the hundreds of projects in the pipeline.

Did I read that correctly?
Height reduction?

When will NYC get the respect it deserves and be offered height additions?

As long as it is not reduced any further, this still makes the Empire State Building pale in comparison.

It already has. Nobody complains when it happens though.

So, is the current building shown in the diagram the reduced in height version now, or is it still the 1401 foot version?

It appears to be the reduced height one...1301 feet roughly corresponds to a hair under 400 meters to the top of the roof.

It's been the 1401 ft version for a while now, we just now have the diagram. It's also slightly smaller in size.

A long way behind sister building 30 Hudson, but with no less intent to rise...

Just out of curiosity is that an access to Grand Central Station above the excavator digging on along the East wall?

I"m not sure what you're looking at.

These might help...

Daniel Boulud’s new eatery gives big boost to One Vanderbilt

By Steve Cuozzo
April 18, 2017

Quote:
News that world-class New York chef Daniel Boulud will bring a large restaurant to One Vanderbilt won’t fill the tower’s nearly 1.7 million square feet of office space overnight — but it sure helps.

With a move, developer SL Green has put a popular, human face on the $3.1 billion skyscraper it’s building next to Grand Central Terminal. The deal lends the spectacular tower more cachet than first office tenant TD Bank, which is taking 200,000 square feet, including a retail branch.

As we first reported Monday on nypost.com, Boulud will launch an 11,000-square-foot eatery on One Vanderbilt’s second floor overlooking the teeming corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and 42nd Street. He’ll also have an Epicerie Boulud grab-and-go outlet at sidewalk level.

The breakthrough comes as SL Green talks to prospective office tenants, most notably JPMorgan Chase, which is considering moving its headquarters there. Sources said that if the bank decides instead to move to Hudson Yards or not move at all from its current Park Avenue digs, a long list of tenants seeking 100,000 to 200,000 square feet each are itching to pounce on One Vanderbilt. The tower is to open in 2020.
