Sounds like a new HQ tower for Western & Southern and an apartment tower are in the works.

Western & Southern clears first step to reshape Lytle Park district
Quote:
Western & Southern Financial Group’s plans to reshape the Lytle Park Historic District moved forward Friday morning, as the Cincinnati Planning Commission approved a change to the district’s boundaries.

The step brings Western & Southern closer to being able to demolish and redevelop properties around Lytle Park for a possible expansion of its headquarters.

“We’re running out of space, we’re tight,” Mario San Marco, president of Western & Southern’s real estate arm Eagle Realty Group, told me after the meeting. “We know that we have to begin thinking and planning for more space.”

The Crosley Building in Camp Washington could be converted into 238 apartments.

Historic Crosley building could be converted into apartments
Quote:
CAMP WASHINGTON, OH (FOX19) - The historic Crosley building in Camp Washington could be in for a facelift if a developer gets its way.

It's a building you can't miss if you're driving along Interstate 75 near Spring Grove Avenue.

Plans are in the works to convert the building into apartments.

..........

Officials with Indianapolis-based Core Redevelopment say they're in the early stages of the project which they expect will be expensive and complicated. They'll also be looking for some state and local tax incentives to help get the project off the ground.

Core Redevelopment has turned a number of buildings into apartments.

The company expects to invest $25 million to $35 million dollars in the Crosley renovation project.

Construction on Northside apartments to start in summer
Quote:
Construction is expected to start this summer on a Northside redevelopment project that could add 131 apartments at sites of a former lumberyard and bowling alley.

The $16 million project for Indianapolis-based Milhaus Development will build the Gantry apartments and 8,000 square feet of retail space near Hamilton Avenue and Blue Rock Street.

Apartments planned next to Newport on the Levee
Quote:
The developer of the Vue 180 apartments took six months to rent out all 93 units along Newport's riverfront this spring.

That's why the same developer, Capital Investment Group, is looking a few hundred feet upriver adjacent to Newport on the Levee to build another 230 upscale apartments.

The five-story apartment complex will go alongside an already-planned hotel on the parking lot next to the Levee and across from the Hofbrauhaus.

Construction Work on $30M Corryville Apartment Project On-Pace for Fall 2015 Completion
Quote:
Uptown Rental Properties is making progress on their latest development in Corryville. This one, called VP3, is located on Euclid Avenue between Corry and Charlton Streets, and will add 147 units with 300 beds to the neighborhood. If all goes according to plan, the $30 million project will open in the fall of 2015.

The site previously included seven homes and a suburban-style Fifth Third Bank retail branch, and is located across the street from the planned site for a new Kroger grocery store.

Corryville has seen a wave of private investment recently that has added hotel rooms, apartments, and retail and office spaces. Much of that investment has come from Uptown Rental Properties, which has constructed hundreds of new residential units and injected thousands of new residents into Corryville over the past several years.

Another downtown residential tower in the works – here’s where it could be built
Quote:
Details are sparse, but it looks like another downtown residential tower may be in the works on the site of a to-be-built seven-story parking garage at Eighth and Sycamore streets.

It’s connected to a complicated deal to build a long-planned Holiday Inn on downtown’s northeast side.

This morning, Cincinnati’s Planning Commission will consider an ordinance relaxing parking requirements for the proposed new Holiday Inn in the northwest corner of the Seventh and Broadway intersection.

I was in Cincinnati for the first time last September and you gave me some suggestions on things to see. I'm heading in town again next week and wanted to check out OTR. What are the main areas of interest that I should check out? Any ideas of where to park and what are the best streets to check out?

The main area of interest would be between Central Parkway and Liberty, and Elm to Main Streets, with Vine Street being the most active. You can park in the garage under Washington Park or in the Mercer Commons garage on Vine Street. For restaurants I would check out Senate, Taste of Belgium, Kaze, Abigail Street, Bakersfield, etc. For bars I would go to the Lackman, Neons, The Eagle, Japps, Rhinehaus, and a stop at the Rhinegeist Brewery. Some must see sites are Washington Park, Music Hall, and Findlay Market.

General Electric's new Global Operations Center is coming to downtown! They will be building a 400,000 square foot building at the Banks.

GE chooses The Banks for new operations center
Quote:
General Electric will build its new global operations center for up to 2,000 workers at The Banks on Cincinnati's riverfront.

Multiple sources confirmed Wednesday that GE's months-long evaluation of other possible sites ended this week with a decision to build the coveted office complex in the heart of Cincinnati.

GE officials declined comment Wednesday, but they said in April they would consolidate several of the company's administrative offices into one location in Greater Cincinnati. The top three contenders to land the new center were The Banks, Oakley and Mason.

This makes me so happy. A 400,000 square foot building is going to be a decent size and with its location in The Banks it'll definitely be visible in the skyline. More cranes on the skyline will be a nice sight.

Any word on if they are going to hire an architect... or are they sticking with the suburban office park stock photo?

^ Well, here's your answer. Hopefully we can get something more similar for their rendering at the Sycamore (Broadway?) location.

GE building design gets thumbs down from review board
Quote:
Members of the Cincinnati panel that reviews and makes recommendations about the design of significant new downtown buildings were less than impressed with the look of the 10-story office building General Electric plans to put at the Banks.

“We were looking for a special building, and this is a routine one,” said Buck Niehoff, an attorney and chairman of the five-member advisory Urban Design Review Board.

The committee makes recommendations to the city manager, but it has no power to force GE and developer Carter to liven up the design, which one member compared to a suburban office building. The architect who helped design it called it a “timeless mainstream design.”

Here's some small scale developments going on in Downtown, Over-the-Rhine, and Pendleton:

Historic OTR church to become event space, bar
Quote:
Josh Heuser has dreamed about breathing new life into a historic yet vacant Over-the-Rhine church on Elm Street since 2001.

Heuser, leader of Over-the-Rhine-based creative marketing and event planning firm AGAR, fell in love with the building's Gothic architecture and the experience that could be created for people who visited. After a 12-year wait to purchase the old St. John's church building, he and business partner Michael Forgus want to create a unique entertainment venue in the increasingly popular neighborhood.

Now, a $4.5 million project is underway to transform the longtime church into Transept – a place for weddings, meetings, concerts, receptions and other social events. In churches, the transept is an architectural feature that helps create the shape of a cross when viewed from above.

New single-family home coming to Central Business District
Quote:
In the coming weeks, construction will start on something Cincinnati’s Central Business District hasn’t seen in a long time, a new single-family home.

Matt Kuhnell, owner of Quest Real Estate LLC, is building a speculative, $1 million, single-family home in the CBD. The house will be built at 311 W. Fourth St., in the city’s West Fourth Street Historic District.

“There’s so much interest in living downtown, but all options are in Over-the-Rhine at the present moment,” Kuhnell said.

One of the largest office buildings in downtown Cincinnati is about to get new life as a mixed-use development.
