Someone should try to create a diagram from what we know...using the basic shape, setbacks, height, and slap some blue glass on it.

thats nice but we don't need another tower from the 30's we need modern towers that will set the template for designs of the 2000's. as of right now this tower s nothing special at all... definitely not to be associated with the status of the ESB and Chrysler....

Dude just chill. This is a world renowned architect here, he is unlikely to disappoint. If you want awful 1,000+ foot residential buildings look at Dubai.

^ True that. Simplicity can be a good thing. Not every tower needs to be Tower Verre or Swiss Re

It's a very basic rendering but it has promise. The truth is in a rendering that shows it more clearly.

Can’t say I’m overly impressed, but at the same time not overly disappointed. I think it’s clear we need to see more renderings.

Much better. The first rendering scared me a little.

I want to see the MoMa Tour Verre photoshopped in that image

I am getting a bit of an Art-Moderne vibe from the first rendering.

I've got this which I created from the DOB filing.

Apart from the color scheme and the crown, it's fairly close. I should have an updated one soon.

My sentiments exactly. I guess I'll give it a 7 out of 10 so far. The unfortunate thing is that because of its location it will block the view from Sheep Meadow of Carnegie Hall Tower and the triangular black glass one next to it (on the other side of the Russian Tea Room). I always thought it looked like you could jump from roof to roof since they're so close. But it will be a welcome addition to the north end of midtown.

That is surprisingly similar, not bad! I'm actually liking this. Looks like there may be some other details which the renderings can't fully show. Someone said there might be a wind farm on the top in the Central Park rendering too.

Ditto for a few different perspectives. Unfortunately, this latest render seems to show the structure 3/4's of the way towards the opposite direction.
We need:
1. At least two east-west shots and
2. a bird's eye view of the first rendering (south facade, I believe), which will show how the setbacks are *really* treated. This I would think might well be the structure's make-or-break feature for many of us.

Otherwise, I am *most* impressed. It seems at once sleek and monolithic, a testament to how creative and resourceful an architect/developer team can be given the dimensions of the grounds to work with.

PS: I also want to see a close up or two of the top at the north side. The square-ish pattern at the top looks intriguing.

PPS: **Magnificent**. Thanks BTW for the enhanced image. Concern #2 as previously mentioned is now satisfied in my book. The geometric facade and the ingeniously subtle curves at the setbacks are stunning. The square pattern at the top is unusual...wouldn't it be nice, tho, how the grid there could be illuminated, eh?

This will rise as we see it now.

to paraphrase an old Buck Rogers episode....

Up Thing...Up Thing...Up Thing...(repeat about a billion times)

It certainly appears to curve like a semicircle.
