Thanks for the update Locked In. Did you manage to get a shot of the huge urban-looking retail façade on Beresford?

Wasn't there supposed to be some red color on the facade?

Yup.

I would have preferred some colour.

It's hard to understand why they would choose plastic awnings for what is a fairly classy looking building.

I don't think I did - not much has changed since the photo posted by spm2013 other than the fences being down.

I have been told that the first residential unit completions are now taking place. No longer U/C.

The views from higher floors must be unreal.

$1400-$1600 for 1BR and $2000-$2200 for 2BR. Nearing downtown levels at the upper end of these prices, if my rental market knowledge is up to date.

That's a lot of money for Metrotown. I wonder what they are really getting.

Now that people have started moving in, how does the occupancy looks like after dark (how many windows have lights)? This building also has no lighting feature? Does any building in Metrotown have any?

There is one building further down Kingsway, near Highgate, that has a vertical blue led line facing south.

I'm starting to see more lights on in this building at night. Also that double height glass box is lit up every night now. I'm not sure if it is a residential unit or mechanical penthouse but it is very visible. I was driving eastbound on the 91 yesterday at about 2am and Metroplace now really stands out because of it.

Confirmed. People are living there now on several different floors, and their lights are on at night. You can see them in their windows at night. It looks nice.

Also, it looks like a medical/dental clinic is going to be the anchor retail tenant at Metroplace. Anyone else have news on who is moving in? I see SOLD signs on the windows but no indication of who bought the units.

On that note, where on earth does everyone get their news about retail unit purchases in new developments? I have googled in vain--even Colliers Canada doesn't seem to tell you on their website.

I still think everyone should have a walk around the base of the building; this is one helluvagreat podium and streetscape.

Except for those tacked on orange vinyl awnings. They look cheap and out of place. They probably won't age too well either.

They shouldn't be too hard to replace.
