interesting. I've never noticed in the AM nor have I seen any photos showing any such activity. And there are a LOT of photos of the north side of the building.

Question

^^^ Also note that the dates are not accurate. about a 3 month delay, because of the steel issues. (For those who didn't know.)

Don't trust them, man. They're part of the conspiracy. I talked to the crane operators and none them know how this got there. "Yeah, no one seems to know. It just showed up one morning. I guess it is pretty weird now that you mention it."

Taller than the chimney, but shorter than the TV Antenna (what's a TV antenna?)

there are hundreds of photos in this thread alone. Have you seen any showing ANYTHING ever emitting from that box on the setback? I know I haven't. I don't know what it is, but as stated before it's very unlikely that it's a "temporary" cooling tower. It's not like we've had someone working on the project confirm/explain what that piece of equipment is doing, if anything.

How long will the union member, and the tree, have to stay pinned up at the top? Not a great place to spend Thanksgiving, depending on the weather.

The union members do it in shifts, and the most junior guys on the job get the Thanksgiving (and other holiday) shifts.

[But he actually said union NUMBER, meaning the ironworkers union local number, and not "member." ]

Comcast Corp.’s new, unfinished tower is now officially the tallest building in the city.

Construction and Comcast officials confirmed what the naked eye could tell in recent weeks. The new tower surpassed the old one in height: 1,050 feet for the new tower, or 75 feet taller than the Comcast Center, the company’s headquarters and until now the highest Philadelphia high-rise.

To see vapor coming out of those temporary cooling units, try looking closely at this gif made from a video. Sorry, it's as good as I have at the moment. Maybe next week I can get better video.

I would think that if Brian Roberts spent 14.3 million for those suites at the level of those HVAC units that they won't be there for too much longer.

on the step 10 diagram you can see 9 lateral sections to the spire. As of yesterday 6 were installed.
Comparing the current build to the original renderings there are several subtle yet critical improvements. The extra floor added to the glass elevator shafts does SO much to drive home the "neo art deco" thing foster seems to be going for. It really helps transition the massive width of the building to the spire. Speaking of width, the spire seems almost twice as wide as the render...and i think that also helps the transition. I always liked the building design...but, like many on here, i thought it needed more height and more narrowing steps to slim it up. The little design changes in the finished product are really helping with that. The original design reminded me of Mcnabb (and not just cuz they featured him in the renders). The building teased of iconic greatness but frustrated in the ways it fell short. Now in the 11th hour as CTC takes it's final form could it be some measure of greatness is realized after all?! Is this the Wentz effect?

Yeah I do think in the original render the spire was thinner and they made it wider.
