I’m surprised someone would upload a picture like that.

I'm glad the Residence Inn is filling in that lot on St Charles. What a missing tooth that was!

Also the WW2 Museum hotel (The Higgins?) looks nice in the elevations. The renderings from last December made it look a little too fake and Miami-esque, looks like the HDLC staff worked with them to make a bit more authentic. Not a ton of Art Deco in NOLA!

Public housing to replace former Winn-Dixie: http://www.wwltv.com/article/news/lo.../289-515031460

There's no doubt we need additional affordable housing units, but I had higher hopes for this site than this.

Perhaps.. renderings always take things to the verge of fake anyways... The Higgins Hotel and The Hard Rock Hotel will be of a similar style thats for sure.. a version of art deco

Yeah hopefully they can make it a nice community like the others done recently such as columbia parc and bienville basin.. HANO owns the winn dixie site but the rest of the parcels are owned by others.

I really hope HANO is partnering with private companies on this project both for development and for management. If not i fear the complex would go down hill in a hurry, if it even got built.

If its mixed income somone besides HANO will likely run it!

remember HANO only owns the portion ive highlighted below.. basically the old winn dixie building and a portiong of the parking lot in front of that.

the rest is either owned by the City of No or another company run by Joe Jaeger. LAFITTE STREET DEVELOPMENT, L.L.C.

It seems like very few units on such a large parcel. It is unfortunate that they did not include a grocery store in any of the Iberville redevelopment areas. There is still a large swath of area between the CBD Rouse's and the Marigny Robert that doesn't have a nearby full-sized grocery store.

I doubt they are building on the whole parcel... there is a street right of way in the middle ... so I’m guessing just the portion on the north side will be built on since they dont own the right of way in the middle

Hmm does Canal Crossing or 1717 Canal have enough retail for a grocery store?

I know 1201 Canal could become a urban-style grocery but it's a little on the small side compared to even the Rouse's on Baronne.

Hard Rock

According to the website of ACORE Capital, they've recently provided financing for the Hard Rock Hotel and Condos. Apparently there will be condos in addition to the hotel.

I do not understand why this is so quiet. You have a tower crane and construction moving forward and other outlets are clearly announcing it as a Hard Rock...everyone but the developers.

I really think its possibly to do with mardi gras and also the fact they have announced groundbreakings twice before.. no one will believe it unless its physically under construction

It looks like Hyatt has named it's new NOLA property "The Eliza Jane". Interesting choice.
