Looking at the size of the total lot, it's pretty clear that the base of the taller Phase 1 tower (the 38 story one) will be in that cutout at the top left of the site, where the trucks are driving into the site.

There is the shape for the first 2 towers emerging...cool. Can't wait to see them dig out the rest.

Yeah, looks like three tower cranes could handle the job in the first phase. Second phase looks like they might need at least four tower cranes, it's a much bigger area.

Nothing happening on the webcam today, they must have weekends off.

It's exciting that Greenland is moving this along so quickly. I can't wait to see this area when this and Fig Central (hopefully) are complete.

The Chinese always impress me with the speed of projects from conception to reality. They build whole cities, literally, in a matter of a few years. When it comes to multiple tower developments, they are king.

I'm now Greenland's biggest fan. We finally get something, other than Wilshire Grand, that isn't cookie-cutter in design. This Gensler design isn't anything innovative (only a select few towers in a handful of cities qualify as such), but it's a far cry from the mediocre crap that is 888 Olive and all the other towers the Onni Group has planned for South Park. Those designs belong in Vancouver… in 2000.

I wouldn't think too far. The shoring piles were only 20 feet long, and they're sticking a foot or two out of the ground. Most of the parking - if not all - is planned above ground in the podium - so I wouldn't think they would go more than 1 level - possibly 2 - down.

^^^ When you look at the detailed plans submitted to the city. The plans call for 2 below ground parking levels and 5 above ground parking levels masked with retail and residential units. Hard to tell if they have already dug down 2 levels already.

No way they are down two levels yet. 2 levels is at least 20 feet, if not more to allow for the mat foundation. Based on the height of the guys in the web cam today, they're only 10-11 feet down. The activity on the corner of 9th and Francisco appears to be cementing the wooden shoring beams into place between the steel piles.

I'm ecstatic to eat crow on my predictions for this project. This might be the most optimistic I have felt about LA in at least 20 years.
